I allowed a couple of my peonies to set seed this year (always before I have followed all the advice to deadhead them). Out of the 12 pods, most just had the little black dots (failed seeds, I guess). One pod had one big seed with what looked like a rootlet sprouting from it, and a smaller seed. I took photos, but since I don't have a digital, I will not be able to post them until after it is developed.
My question: is this terrible seed-set normal for peonies? I allowed 1 of my unknown very double pink and 1 of my Festiva Maxima to each develop 2 of its pods.
