Since July 31, we have accomplished the following:

New photos: 1371
Comments/ratings: 474

These are simply TERRIFIC numbers! But, they are still a bit short of our goal. We have just a few days left, and enough time to add the 629 pictures and 526 comments to meet the goal!

I've heard from a few of you that the comments and ratings are a bit confusing. To clear things up, Dave is re-working the wording.

In a nutshell, what this section is designed for is to let you - the gardener - tell other gardeners what you think of a plant. Or share something interesting about it that can't be added through the checkboxes (where it originated, where it got its common name, etc.)

Contrary to the current wording, you don't have to have personal growing experience to add a comment or a rating (although knowing enough about it to rate it is obviously necessary.)

Adding a photo is just like adding one to a forum. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask for help. Every photo or comment you add gets you one chance to win a nifty prize.

Need further incentive? We receive a steady stream of requests to use PDB photos from a wide variety of sources. One a few days ago wants to include a member's photo in a book that's being published!

And think about how much more satisfying it will be to use the PDB knowing you've helped make it what it is. You don't have to be a botanist or taxonomist to contribute - just a gardener who knows a little something about a few plants :)
