I would be interested in all four. What kind of plants are you desiring? Hopefully I'll have something.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

You guys are killing me with this Rothkirch teasing. I'm just too old to keep falling down like this and now my head hurts too.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Which one of the brugs that we do have has Rothkirch in it? Isn't there some way we could pull it out of that brug and then get something like Monika is producing? Does anyone have an order placed at NH for one? I know, grasping here!!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Butterfly, Pink Beauty

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

brugie, BF, pink beauty, rosabelle are i believe rothkirch X ocre.... i'm thinking back breeding the 2 might get back to something, but i don't know much!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Was thinking that I read someplace that Pink Beauty throws a lot of yellow seedlings. Hope I haven't made a mistake putting Pink Beauty and Butterfly together. Hey, maybe just the "R" will come out and one of us will hit the jackpot!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

lol snow!!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Somebody go superglue Snow to the chair. Hate to see her hurting like this.

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

I had an order placed with NH, got everything but Rothkirch, they send me a postcard and said that I wouldn't be getting it because they were having problems with it. Sorry but I tried.

Everyone, i am just catching up. if you haven't heard by me in the morning, please email me again.
i can say there is still quite a bit of butterfly, should be able to judge the rest tomorrow. sorry i have been so out of it.

Hamilton, Canada

I didn't know Pink Beauty was an offspring. But surely if you cross it to Butterfy and Rosetta you will still get closer to Roth..One might have to do the cross a couple of time it get a Roth though.

FSH, TX

So, as for this Rothkirch...Everyone is aware that Rothkirch is in the states already. LBJ and Native Habitat have her. Of course Native Habitat has had her for 2 years at least if memory serves me and LBJ...well who knows. All I know is that Native Habitat is very good with air layering and grafting brugs so I can only conclude that the reason we don't see any of these is that they are hybridizing with her as they can breed with Rothkirch year round as they don't get any freezes.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I got an email from Lee at NH and he said they were afraid they were going to lose their Rothkirch. Haven't written him back to see how it is going.

FSH, TX

Brugie,
Thats very sad indeed. Did they cut on it too much or is it infected? Ahh, I was hoping those guys were simply going to release some of the best hybrids we have ever seen in the USA. I was kind of hoping that was the reason they were not giving out any cuttings.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I'm not really sure what happened, but there were having no luck getting cuttings to root and Lee then said what I wrote above. I wrote him back and suggested that they try air layering this one, but didn't hear back from him.

FSH, TX

Brugie,
Thats what confuses me, those guys are experts at air layering. Heck, their experts in just about all forms of propagation. I think the only thing they haven't tried is grafting cacti and thats much easier than grafting brugs. Perhaps LBJ will release Rothkirch though as they have had it for a while as well.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Hope someone does.....Sure would be the one to have now.

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

Why sould LBJ release a Rothkirch, when they haven't released anything else.?? just a little clueless here.

FSH, TX

Dee, I believe they were actually going to release Rothkirch last year. They took it off the market though. Probably because it was harder to propagate than some of the others. Of course it could be that they are trying to stockpile enough to meet demands as well. Let us not forget they sell seeds as well so perhaps they will offer seeds from Rothkirch as well in the not to distant future.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Seems LBJ releases brugs that are misnamed, for shame!!

FSH, TX

Okay, well lets get back on track. At least we have Butterfly and Rosabelle. As these are Rothkirch children we should still be able to breed these to each other to get our own Rothkirch. Perhaps something even better than Rothkirch. If it takes these companies that have Rothkirch another year to release Rothkirch...well by then we might have a first year bloomer that outdoes Rothkirch and is easier to propagate.

(Zone 6a)

Good question Dee:) LOL

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

and good answer Eric!!!! why cry over 'spilt milk' we'll just make our own.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Go Brugman GO!!

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

I've got Butterfly blooming now. Anyone have any Rosabelle pollen they would share?

Hamilton, Canada

I agree with Brugman. If LBJ and NH are busy making crosses then I see no difference in several individuals doing exactly the same thing. The more individuals making crosses of the daughter plants then the higher the probability of obtaining a Rothkirch form. I'm going to try for sure. We can also work together by sharing the seeds with others as is done now.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

You're right Joydie . . . as a group we can do this!!

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Let's go for it!!!

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

LBJ got rid of Rothkirch because it harbors and develops too many viral factors. **SIGH**

FSH, TX

So it seems that our best bet is to indeed breed the siblings created from Rothkirch. By the way...buds are on many of the cuttings I gave Arlene so its just a matter of letting them bloom. Not waiting for them to get a certain size. Personally, a nice darker pink, longer tendriled, heavier blooming, earlier blooming aurea type that is less virus prone would be prefered.
