Oh Monika! It's so beautiful Guess it is one I'll have to put on my wish list. How do the genes differ from Butterfly?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

does anyone here have one with such a color???

(Zone 6a)

Fantastic beauty!

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

It has suaveolens and Rothkirch genes, snow. The color comes through Rothkirch. It is a beautiful flower. But certain conditions are need to see such a bright color.
Use it for pink doubles as pollinator.

Oh,oh,oh,

That is just about as nice as they come.
Great pictures as always, Monika.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

If I had a color like that one I'd have a Lamour alley - all lamour and nothing but lamour - as far as the eye could see. Sigh ~~ dreaming of lamour

How do you get yours so red, Monika? There`s the right climate here, but there must be something I am doing wrong, because mine keeps turning out white tube/middle pink margin.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I love that! Tonny ,I hope you figure out how to get that color...then let us all in on it!

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

OOO so beautiful Monika

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Tonny, it rather seldom to see L'Amour in such a red. It needs warm temperatures during the development of the buds and high humidity during blooming. We had all of this in June. L'Amours flowers last almost a week and have time to change colors. But with all ideal climate conditions, soil, ph-value and special fertilizer is needed also. I dont use any chemicals, Tonny. L'Amour had such a red at my place in 1996, 1999 and now.

FSH, TX

Monika,
Just be sure to breed us one that is a vibrant red at its worst and a cherry red at its best. Thats all we ask. If anyone can do it you can. Keeping my fingers double crossed for you.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

so beautiful, Eric just think, it would stay that beautiful color for us!!! hopefully. btw, you have mail.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

we have those conditions here in the south, just need to know the special fertilizer. wonder if that would bring out more color in others.

FSH, TX

My main desire to have L'amour and Rosabelle would be for pollen donors to cross to Butterfly in hopes of getting a darker red Rothkirch that was a bit stronger, bloomed heavier, and preferably was a first year bloomer from seed as well. First year bloomers from seed...thats what I like.

(Zone 6a)

Monika....what pH have you found to be best for brugs?

Owen

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

I know when I water with tap water our PH level is about 9 ph so should use rain water..but alas..no rain much anymore!LOL Brugie uses rain water what a difference in the vigor and size of her plants.

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

does that mean i am at a great disadvantage here, since we never get any rain in the desert, only spring water? i do remember Monika mentioned where she lives, she has volcanic soil. as far as the sandy soil, we have here, i do add a lot of compost and steer manure where i planted the brugs on the ground. soil ph 6.5. TIA

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Never check the PH here. Just grow em. Maybe that is why I'm always questioning if I have what I think I have. Kyle, I ran out of rain water a while back, but thanks to the last couple of rains, I should be in business again. I think our cistern holds about a thousand gallons when full. Hoping for lots of fall rains to fill it for spring use.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Absolutely stunning! Such vivid color.....WOW!

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Owen, I have problems keeping a proper ph-value. The water is too soft, it lacks calcium. I use a calcium fertilizer, it has 16% N (calcium nitrate) every third day. In between, another fertilizer with no N, but P-K-Mg;iron etc in high dosage

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Another picture to compare. Note the long tendrils.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Beautiful, what color!

Calera, OK(Zone 7b)

All of these pictures of L'Amour are just beautiful. It is a tremendous brug. One of the prettiest I've seen.

Austell, GA(Zone 7a)

Ooh la la, what a beauty!!!

Incredible!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

even better the second time posted! maybe I asppreciate it even more this time!

Co.Wicklow, Ireland(Zone 8b)

My L'amour will flower for the first time in a few days! Maybe it is just winter growth but i find it unusual the way the calyx reaches full size before the corolla starts to grow! I think the flowers are going to be alot larger than i had imagined!

Awsome brug. Wow What vivid color. I so had my hopes on getting one but more diasters have strickened who I was getting it from. I am heart broken. I wanted it more than anything I have.

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

That is fabulous Monika!

Birmingham, AL(Zone 7b)

Rik swoons again. (*thummp*)

((when he revives, he will hope that Monika will become his best friend))

(Zone 6a)

Right now, I would settle for some L'Amour pollen:)

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

what a beauty!

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

OK now I have a question. The seedlings are getting this wonderful color, after a couple days, they are beautiful when they first open, but after a day or so they are even darker. They are starting to curve back and the tendrils are looking a little "piggy-tailed" I don't remember if L'Amour has curled tendrils, it is not blooming right now, so I am having a momment. The foliage is just a lush and beautiful as L'Amour's but I can't remember about the tendrils.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

One of my favorite pictures. Hope to have this color in my yard soon.

Marshfield, MO(Zone 6a)

Monika, that is a gorgeous flower. I am lucky to have received a healthy cutting from Susie, can't wait to have blooms like yours.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

You will love it Mary. It will probably show its rich color in your climate much better as it does in mine.

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

OHHH that is beautiful!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

In my climate, it is not a true pink. It is an odd color. Very dark here and pinks here stay light it seems. More an orange pink.

Glad you have it Mary. It will make you smile alot!
