So, I'm reading my Old Farmer's Almanac Gardener's Companion magazine that came yesterday (I highly recommend this, by the way), and I see an advertisement from the Arbor Day Foundation.
They say that if you join for a 6 month membership for $10, they will send you 10 flowering trees (selected for your area) plus a lilac bush.
Each tree comes 6 to 12 inches tall.
Has anyone else heard of this deal? Are there strings attached? I'm thinking I'm going to participate in this deal, but I want to hear if anybody has thoughts on it.

Arbor Day $10 deal
Good Morning, Dave:
I am not a member, but I have ordered from them. The Arbor Day Foundation is a very reputable organization. I ordered a Golden Rain Tree from them and was pleased with it.
Their trees are really small - but they of good stock.
Grits
Hi Dave,
I've joined this reputable organization because I LOVE trees. They offer an introductory sample of trees for people who join each year. Some mailers get to choose the variety of flowering trees, while other Arbor Day mailers offer 10 free Colorado Blue Spruce trees. They are small but they are good quality, as mentioned above.
Here is their website to check out more things:

Thanks for the info, everyone. I'm going to go with this offer, then. They'll send me 5 different kinds of flowering trees, which will be fun. I've already picked out the places for them.

I have a huge redbud tree and two pine trees from them. I put my 10 free in the flower garden and then transplant after a couple of years. Be careful not to lose the identity sheet that comes with the baby trees. They are color-coded but that doesn't last long after a season. Great organization!
Well, just an update. These trees came and are doing fantastic. They arrived on March 6th and they are all now full of leaves and thoroughly enjoying their new home.
I feel like I got a good value for my ten dollars.
Dave
Dave My apple tree I got with my ten free trees about three years ago is now above my porch roof. The others are all about eight feet tall and doing well.
Excellent marclay. That gives me a good idea of where I'll be in 3 years. Looking forward to these trees!

Dave... I did the join and get 10 free trees thing a couple of months ago. This week I got some paperwork on the membership, but no trees yet. I had a choice of 10 blue spruce, or 10 flowering trees. I choose the flowering trees and expect them along anytime now. Since other posts above are happy with the deal, I really DO expect to get my trees!
