Suggestions needed

I have a dinner-plate hibiscus plant. What would be the preferred method of propagation? Air laying or root cuttings? And I need instructions. I would love to duplicate this plant - it's been so faithful to come back each year bigger and better than before. This http://davesgarden.com/showforumphoto.php?imageid=15400 shows a picture of it.

Good timing on this thread. Just this afternoon I took several cuttings of our hibiscuses. I have 5 cuttings that I took. I'll let you know how they turn out for me!

Oh Lois, that is stunning. I have one too but it's just a tad darker pink. It is just now getting ready to bloom. Dave, let us know on the propogation. I would love to be able to duplicate these beautiful flowers too!

I have the all white ones. I planted from seed during the winter in my basement (with fluorescent lights) Got my first bloom 2 weeks ago. Growing from seed was quite easy. I haven't tried cuttings yet.

I have 5 started of each Lord Lady Baltimore and Turn of the Century.

I put cuttings in jar of water, waxed paper over top, hole for cutting. Last two are just forming callus, so will plant those and hope they root. The others, formed roots in jar of water.

Hope this helps.

When I wanted to share with my great aunt, I just dug it up and sliced off a chunk. Both of them are still growing and blooming two years later. It may not have been the preferred method, but it worked. LOL
