I didn't get as close a look at this as I'd hoped. I think it is a moth, but I'm not sure. Anyone know?

No question - it's a moth. But it's not a Silk or a Hawk moth, so I start to stumble.

GW - it looks sorta like the Eight Spotted Forester you had but I'm stumped because it's brown and not black. I wonder if the females are brown? My book doesn't say....
Yeah, it does in this picture, Sue. But I tell ya, the way it flew and landed, it looked like some other kind of insect from a distance. It sure did fascinate Hattie - I was lucky to get it away before she maimed it and left bits of it strewn all around the kitchen!
