Daphne cuttings

Mount Angel, OR(Zone 8a)

Well, fellow gardeners, I spent my morning taking cuttings from a friend's Daphne, burwoodii, Carol Mackie. The last two years I have had pretty good luck with this plant. I also am trying the daphne cneorum or rock daphne. Both of these plants are so fragrant. I have a bush of my own of the first daphne, I will take cuttings from it soon. From the one friend's bush, I estimate I got 500 cuttings. Last year I had about 80% root. I didn't take this many cuttings last year. I am trying to get a small nursery up and going but it is hard for me to settle on what I want to produce, trouble is I want one of everything.LOL

Lenjo, do you want some other things to get started for your nursery?
I have black eyed susans (tons and tons)
butterfly bushes (tons and tons)
several ornamental grasses
the only catch is you have to come get them....lol it would only be about a 45 minute drive...(oh yeah, bring your own containers)

Thanks for the offer, Pebble, I too have a bunch of ornamental grasses in my greenhouse in gallon pots. I am not comfortable driving Portland but my girls are and so maybe one Thursday or Tuesday I can talk one of them into coming up. E-mail me a phone number and I will call when I can see my way clear.
