Crossville, TN

Hi....Carol & I left EARLY yesterday morning from Virginia...First Stop: The Moondance Farm where 'Shoe gave us our tea/coffee break...but OVERLOOKED the mater biscuits...However; He did manage to pawn off on us some green beans to take to TNmom...they were soooo old they had turned PURPLE! Gave us some good aigs and maters though.

While visiting our good friend 'Shoe (??) his Cousin "IT" arrived...very quiet gal!!! Alex was as cute as ever.

We journeyed on to Ashville where we made a pit stop at Darisus'....had my afternnon tea and admired her yard and plants...and BOOKS!! She has more books than some small library's!! Lovely plants too.

We are now with TNmom and her DH...awaiting the call from calalilly to BEGIN THE TRIP!! Jo & Carol

And by the way!!!...Them were Purple Pole beans you Hambone!!! Not old green beans! (Course now, they were picked a day or so 'fore ya got there!) Them thar are "magic beans"...they turn green right b4 your very eyes when you put them in boiling water. (Sheesh, buy 'em books and send 'em to school...).

Hey! There's my cousin! Tee-hee! I do that same thing to scare the kids every now and again!! I have hair down to my butt and went like that as Cousin IT for Halloween one year. *Grin!* Next time, I need to figure out how to keep the eye-holes open ~ it gets old walking into things. ;)

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

OK, got my Explorer back!! It's changing gears smooth as silk. The guys at the Ford dealership worked late tonight just to get me out!! They are sweeties.(thanks also to UPS for delivering the part on time) I'm so excited, I'm all packed, got a few gifties for the folks along the way and oh yes, have Karyn's plants too.
Carol "might" find my house in the morning, heard DH giving directions when I got home!!
Carol, it's easy: take Pelissippi exit, go toward Oak Ridge, exit again on Edgemoor Rd, straight on till the 2nd red light, then it's the 3rd left.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Cala - will Lauren be with you guys? Four gals total, right?

strung them? as in stringing them? or hanging them to make "leather britches"? You worry, woman!

Crossville, TN

Shoe.....hush up...you know what I mean...string beans...that's what we used to call them...not Green Beans...they do have a lot of strings on them you have to pull off!!! J

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

RR, we can't stay at Snows, she made the bedroom her computer room!! I think she said it's 8 hours to Karyns, so we might need to get a room. Sorry for the little boo boo.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Will it be four of you? Cala, Lauren, Jo and Carol?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

GW, yes.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Sanks! :)

Harford County, MD(Zone 6b)

Jo,I was thinking the same thing as Shoe...I thought you were stringing the beans for leather britches.I could see you and Carol sitting there with a needle and thread...

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

ROFLMBO..............@ Gin's mental pic!!!

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

I am so glad y'all ain't coming here on your adventure, I would hate to see what you would do to my purple beans! ROTFL. Make them into a plaid with my yellow beans? Knit in the green ones too! (just joking :) I am looking forward to meeting y'all on Aug 3 in Newark) Your journey sounds like such fun.

Here in OH they are called "snap beans", my purple ones are "stringless". Maybe I will bring them to our lunch with GardenWife, so you can taste why us'n love 'em. :) Roasted corn with purple bean salsa? Sound good? Gardenwife loved the version made with garbanzo beans (chickpeas), so maybe I will go for a more colorful twist.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Yes! Go for it! :D

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Hey Kathy, if you have any leftovers, please send me a taste! LOL I am sure one of them has room in their purse or under a seat somewhere. LOL I don't think it will spoil in three hours. Giggle

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Hee hee Badseed, y'all don't know how we are with food, lol. Jo is in charge of guarding the food. She even has a stash of chocolate hidden somewhere. We've been trying to distract her and take it, but haven't located it yet.

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

Badseed, I'll send a quart down to you with the traveling quartet, just pray they don't get a flat on the way and need food! LOL. But I think they will be full from the lunch Gardenwife is planning.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Speaking of the lunch, I need to get an idea of how many folks can be here. I'm starting a new thread about that here in the Parking Lot.

But you see Carol & Jo strung them & said we'll cook them
the next day...Too busy sight seeing in Crossville cause
you know who did the cooking..LOL...They missed out on them
& just left more for me...Thanks for the goodies...
TNmom (aka) Donna (aka) DJ

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

DJ...we ain't NEVER strung them purple beans! We even eat 'em raw. Can't imagine the RR puttin ya'll to work like that! (Course now, I realize they were picked two days b4 they came and got em! Still...can't imagine them needing stringing! They cook up tender. TENDER I tell ya!)
Anyway, hopefully you put a piece of fatback or sidemeat in that bean pot! Reckon I better send you some seeds so you and DH can grow your own next yr, eh?)
PS....Crossville big enuff to site-see in?...wow, didn't know that!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

We're here. We made it!! We are in Maine at Poppysue's and her gardens are gorgeous!! The lobsters are cooking as I am typing, NO BEANS either.
We went out on the boat and went sightseeing. I almost fell out of the boat, but I didn't get wet. I think Carol must have pushed me!! They tried to leave me in Rhode Island, but I managed to get back in the car just in time.
GW, if they show up without me, send Wally to find me.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Ha! Wally! Wally?? I thought he was busy propagating every female dog in TN! LMBO You really think he will come looking for you? Dogs love me! All dogs love me! Wally would not come near me unless I had meat in my hand! Somebody better strap a steak to Cala if she is hoping for Wally to find her! It is the only hope she has! LOL

Elizabethton (Stoney, TN(Zone 6b)

Bad, you are such a character! What a GREAT sense of humor you have! And such a creative writer! Must be lack of sleep with all those little ones you have to take care of. You had me chuckling!

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Sleep deprivation has its plusses, eh, Chele? ;)

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

Meiyu, here is the other one! Join the fun. Just in time for Halloween dressing up.

Crossville, TN
