This plant is very drought tolerant. Beautiful in the fall.
Spirea 'Magic Carpet'
I have this same plant and have shared it with many many DG'rs. You can cut it back several times during the summer months and it blooms again and again. "T" :)
Gosh,I like that. Could you provide more information about this beauty? How big will it actually get? Is it fast growing? Going have to look and see if I can find any around here at the nurseries
Here is a good look. http://www.borkgardencenter.com/Shrubs/SpireaMagicCarpet.html

thanks for the links golddog. I love the colored leaves. How pretty that would be in the fall.
Yours sure looks bigger than 2-3 feet. Do you have yours in full sun then or does it get afternoon shade?
Gosh Evert, the flowers on yours are so pretty as well. I like those as well.
Actually, the bush is ok, but when it gets too old and if it is in dry place it looks horrible. And after blooming when the flowers turn brown. :P And in winter it is not a pretty bush =)
Yes, and the colors don't hold in the summer. All in all It gets better for me each year.
Golddog,
Maybe you would rather have a Golden barberry. Berberis thunbergii 'Aurea'. It is hardy to zone 4.
Forestfarm has it.
