Here we are, been so starved for rain, well, last night we had a nice downpour. But this am as I made my rounds I found that all six of the nice buds on my Isabella were on the ground! It was a pretty hard rain to knock them off. I sure was looking forward to these, we are having company the 1st week in Aug. and I wanted to show off something special besides the run of the mill geraniums, Caladiums etc. I am sooo disappointed, I only have one other brug with buds and I don't even know it's name. Sure hope they don't disappear too.

Azalea, you are welcome to drive down here and get some with buds....you are a traveling lady aren't you? i'm 1 1/2 hours inside the florida line. have some in pots, some in the ground need homes. you can still have blooms by august i think.

I still have that baby Isabella with the bud on it if you want it. so sorry, I'd cry right now if my buds fell off!!! feed all the others every other day and maybe something else will decide to show off! anything else have a Y??

I am so sorry. Sounds like with help of some friends this can still happen. We finally was getting some rain here in Michigan or I should say thunderstorms and even though I have no buds I moved all of mine under the deck so nothing would happen to them. I hope all works out and your others start to show off also.
Azalea, i am serious, bring tig. you guys can raid for cuttings and i have some perennials need thinning and millions of cannas, bananas. all i ask is that you would bring big pots to replace the big pots.

Oh, Arlene, you are too much!! So sweet of you to offer. I will get over it, just feeling sorry for myself I guess. We need the rain so badly, it is just a mixed blessing. Don't see a trip there just now tho. Thanks for the sympathy!
Azalea, the buds should come back soon. i do have 4 in large pots blooming and with buds, versicolor peach, dr s, white, jamaican yellow and extras in the ground. it has rained here almost every day for a month, what a blessing. i guess it would take you all day!!!

Azalea, i have been trying very hard to down size. i haven't offered the ones in large pots to locals, i don't want to give up the big pots. i have given away/sold 25 in the last week and have 3 people yet to come over that want some. i still have over 100 in pots and about 50 plants in the ground.
i'm too old to be a full time gardner, have 2 teenagers, and work. and i have to make room for the seedlings, they are being so ignored. bring tig, a big truck and some big replacement pots!!!! the sooner the better....
TiG, can you drive Bill's truck? Hee hee wonder if he'd let me take it? Nah, probably not!! We could sure put a bunch in the back.
Azalea, I have some in pots you can have too, or I can send you some blooms around the end of July, you tape them to the stems and no one will be the wizer.

Azalea, what a bummer. I'll agree with Arlene, you will still get more buds. How nice can people be to offer their blooming brugs to gardening friends. Arlene, you are the best.
I say go for it.....or them as the case is! You could call it the Great Brugmansia Caper, starring Azalea and Arlene with tiG and Cala in supporting roles. It would have drama and suspense........we could add a scene on the brugs getting pollinated to add a bit of sex to it....and make sure Butterfly and Pink Beauty are centerstage to supply beauty.....will Azalea have buds on time?? I see a film here....... from tragedy came action, suspense, sex and beauty to SUCCESS. A hit!

Azalea, What a disappontment but you will have more buds before you know it. I still say that the most wonderful and generous group of people that God ever created are right here on this forum and in this website that Dave created.

Yep - finally talked dh into letting me drive his old '86 Toyota truck down to get a few goodies!! Tig mentioned the "C" word, & that was the final straw!! I couldn't stand the thoughts of them going to be destroyed!! I have been clearing out space like crazy for them. I have learned that if I just clear out the "junkie" invasive things, I have lots more room for the finer things in life!
We'll be hitting the road Friday am, returning Sat pm if all goes well!
you can't imagine how excited I am to get to meet arlene!!!!
