Sanctuary

Just some thoughts after a week of servers not serving and the trusty PO losing trades or mangling others. We live in a hightech world. At 63 I remember life much simpler and saner and quieter. Mabe not as convienent. I read a lot of Thomas Merton . My question is does anyone know if he mentioned planting any flowers at his hermitage-he certainly wrote about and loved nature. I havent been privileged to read all his books. How many of us are building a sanctuary in our gardens to escape hightech stress?I remember my 16 year old son telling me for years as I volunteered as a medic "Mom get a life not a firehouse" Now with every seed and tree and plant that goes in Im getting a life. Anyone else?

marclay,I honestly don't know the answer to your first question. Sorry. But I can tell you about my sanctuary where I go to escape from the stresses in my life...my garden. (sigh) Oh how I love it there and I go there every single day to commune with nature. Somehow while I'm working in the garden, I'm able to put things in perspective and things seem clearer there than anywhere and I'm at peace with myself. :)

Hi marclay - need to look up your author. I know where you are coming from. Escape from today's hectic lifestyle and technology is not easy. My gardens have always been my refuge and my strength and long may they continue to be. However, today's modern advances come in handy now and again. We are talking right now and sharing. I am about to start a new and hopefully my last garden, where I can spend my twilight years and leave some legacy behind. Have a peaceful Sunday :-)
