Eyes:

Have you ever grown them from seeds? Scares me! I had a red one before and cracked the coating, had a heat mat and nothing! Soaked the seed etc.

Hibiscus,

I have had some sprout and grow the same year from seeds that I deadheaded and just left the seedpods lie! Yes, I live in Ohio. Maybe if you get them started now, they will be big enough to dig and store in fall?

I haven't personally, Hibiscus, but many have. I know people who do this, but I'm kinda impatient, and want a more instant gratification.
