Does anyone have knowledge about Trout Lily aka Dog Tooth Violet?

Brown City, MI(Zone 5a)

Hello,
Does anyone have experience with Trout Lily? The floor of our woods is completely covered with it. (most of the ten acres).
I am wondering if it would transplant well or if it would survive shipping in a trade.
Most of the plants seem very small and the bulbs seem
tiny and frail.
I have posted a picture of one "patch" of Trout Lily in the Photo Forum if you want to take a look.
Grateful for any help,
Kathy

Trout lily (Erythronium americana) transplants quite well. I sent some quite a distance last year and it has survived by all accounts. Pretty little flower, and it disappears quickly after the seed pods form.

Hi Kathy,
I just posted on your plant ID post about the columbine that there were trout lilies in the background. Now I see you already know that. They grow wild around here too. One thing about them - they go dormant after flowering and completely disappear in midsummer. Here's a couple of links with some information

Kathleen and Poppysue,
Thanks for the help. I appreciate everyone's help with identifying the plants I find in the woods. I have a book, (National Audubon Field Guide) but I can't always find everything and desire more information than it gives.
I guess I can go ahead and offer some of this up for a trade.
Kathy
