EARTH DAY IS COMING SO............

PLEASE let us all do our part and plant the trees / plants that our World Gov't's seem to be intent on destroying . This is a case where we MUST LEAD our Gov't's via our own actions to ensure a better world for future generations . Plant ONWARD & ROCK ONWARD !!! :) April 22 , 2001 Earth Day WILL Rock !!!

I'm all for that! I plant as many every year as my budget will allow. With going back to work full time I can afford a lot more! :)

we have artswalk. where all the stores downtown turn into little mini galleries and stay open late. local artists display their work in each store. and then there's a parade called the procession of the species through downtown. community members have spent months making costumes and preparing all kinds of eye candy. the have a warehouse where people can just come and make stuff. the idea behind it is that it is a way to celebrate the animals, plants, earth. celebratrating them because non humans are often ignored. i'm going to be part of a dragon. my first year in the parade.

but oh boy we are the capital city and the state workers union is going on strike on friday. so saturday there will be parades, art shows and a picket line all in one little 10 block radius. oh my. it'll be quite a day.

hopefully i can still get to planting a tree that i saved.

Good grief - I remember the first Earth Day - I was the one that the senior advisor gave the info to - he know I was the only one that would care. Small towns - gotta love 'em.

Replacing dead apple trees, getting some pears, spreading out the little bitty locust and dogwood from last year, Franklinia seeds, and persimmon seeds in pots. Redbud seeds going in, giving black walnuts to a guy who just bought an old farm. Maybe I can get serious about this yet.

ROCK ON BABE. Hey the wood products industry wants you to plant genetically engineered trees with beaver genes all over, preferably on a seasonally flooded area. The trees automatically cut themselves down after thirty years and will float in formation to the mills.

I sat a table for our local organic organization at the local earthday celebration put together by the enviromental studies graduate students at Miami university (the local University) and I must say the turnout was dismal even though the event was in the center of town and had live bands. people don't seem to care as much about the environment these days. this will probably change when the price of gas hits $5 a gallon but for now not much interest.

Oh well, when we got back home there was an older farmer waiting for us so he could buy organic eggs and he wanted to talk a bit about organic growing.

The trees I plant will help very little with all the
clear cutting going on in our area. I wonder where the rabbits squirells and song birds will go.Its been several years since i've seen a pilated woodpecker. No old pines.

Took a long, hard look at the damage the builders had done on the outskirts of our woods. I could have cried! Young dogwood saplings and a host of others just decimated. Our repeated requests to please stay clear and not dump building material on the vegetation goes unheeded. I shall be so glad when we move in next month and start rejuventating. Rock on trees, down with builders!

Speaking of Earth Day...Did Ira Einhorn's trial start yet? It would sure be nice to see justiced served. What a turd that guy is.
