Met Esther_W today!

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

Esther and her DH came to Columbus yesterday and dropped off an extremely welcome gift (several actually). All you bamboo lovers out there, eat your hearts out! She brought me 3 different kinds, as well as nandina! She also brought me cuttings from 8 (I think) different roses; and 3 different sedums!

They also brought me brochures, newspapers, magazines, etc. of a whole lot of things in Amish country for our planned September HOORU. I have spent hours pouring over these. I will post details next week of some things to think over. I am also going to ask Dave for a new forum for us; there are too many things that we will need to talk/think about to keep getting lost in different areas. Keep your eye out for that one!

They had to run, but came back today to pick up her gifts.

If you are reading this Esther, you can brag about what you got. LOL. Seriously, I gave her cuttings of 9 of my roses that she didn't have, several kinds of seeds, plants: several columbines, blue-eyed grass, angel hair grass, corydalis, several others that I can't remember offhand.

Her DH is a great sport and dug several gooseberries out of the ground and potted them for her! Such a nice man! He also dug several clumps of my Asarum for her, she only had a little piece from a trade (Gardenwife, you know how much wild ginger I have!)

We had a great time getting to know each other, and we are both looking forward to her next trip to Columbus.

South Point, OH(Zone 6a)

It was great to meet you Kathy, and enjoy your hospitality - great buckeyes, muffins and iced tea! Lovely treat after touring the gardens (hot day) with such a variety of interesting plants and artifacts. You forgot to mention the toad lilies, and asters that you gave me. I never saw your cat, but as you said, she is very shy.

DH is a treasure, our gardens would be on a much smaller scale if it were not for him. He does 95% of the work!

I have been on gardenweb before and the also on DG, but this is the first time I have met a fellow gardener who is also on the web. It is an instant connection. I promised to bring you some cuban variegated oregano next time. Was there anything else?
