Cleaning tiny seeds

Lancaster, CA

By tiny seeds (I mean seeds so tiny, they are difficult to tell from chaff) are very difficult to clean. Oregano, pennyroyal, santolina and tansy come to mind.

So far the simplest I've come up with is a three part technique. First crumble the dried seed head into a bowl and sift the resultant dust thru a small sieve (screen) to get out the biggest bits.

Next, Dump the chaff into a wide flattish salad tossing type bowl. Swirl gently. This will seperate most of the tiny seeds from the chaff.

Finally, Dump the last uncleaned dust on a plate, gently blow across the surface (of the left over dust) more of the lighter bits blow away.

Can't seem to do much better than that. Any ideas?
Chris
