My wish list consist of just about anything I don't already have. I seem to keep adding collections to my collections of collections. :0)
All I want is a brug. that blooms this year and these are not tropical but any glads that are different.

Well I finally got Xanthosoma sagittafolium variegatum....like The Holy Grail of aroids...and I got several other hibiscus I wanted..so guess I'm happy for now!!Well till next week anyway!!LOL
Evert, check out http://www.dutchbulbs.com. I don't know if they have any chocolate cosmos left, but I got three more of them and they were on sale.
I live in zone 8, though we get several snows during the winter, and sometimes in spring, too, so far the CC's have done fine. My oldest one is about 5 years old now. Do you dig yours up in the fall and store like dahlias? I heard that this works for some. Anything that I ever dig up, I usually lose, so one year I thought I would leave them in the ground. They are in full bloom now, except for the new ones. They are late to bloom and late to emerge. One of those late summer things, I guess.
Evelyn, I am in Finland so we can't order anything from dutchbulbs here.. just have to keep searching it and ask the nursery if they could get any more of them.
Anyway, I left mine in the pot during winter, didn't water and in spring I started watering again and it didn't come up. I also dug the pot and there was no roots left. They really liked the Finnish summer, lots of light, enough warm and sun (I grew it on our rock) and water.

Thanks to a very sweet and wonderful young man named Evert, I now know the name "Strelitzia nicolai" and have seeds to my dream plant! I was having a terrible day and was feeling pretty icky till I found this wonderful suprise gift in the mailbox! What a great kid!
