Tig, my garden is full of them too...In various stages, the ones that reseed are about 2 ft high, then I sprinkled some different seeds, and they are about the size of yours in the picture. I think Tig, that once you have poppies, you will always have poppies, they reseed so readily.
I hav poppies coming up in all sorts of funny little places, cracks in the driveway, between pavers, and I had a sand pile next to my green recycling, would you believe it has been transformed into a poppy bed. I cant wait to see which ones they are, they are a good 2-1/2 ft tall, and the healthiest plants....
I hope you will post pictures of your poppies, I always enjoy seeing peoples plants, and especially poppies.

Yaaay! That should help! I always think they look like lettuce. Nice and crispy ;)

pebble, not true. I had a wonderful full bed about 4 years ago, they reseeded once, and then nothing.

this is my first year...I let all the pods dry last year so I could harvest the seeds, so I guess, I was careless when I picked the pods off the plants, and the seeds got sprinkled all over the place. I guess if you dead head and don't let them form seed, they wouldnt reseed.

I wanted mine to reseed, and thought I'd left enough on the plants to take care of that. Next time, I'll leave more pods.

shake the pods when you cut them....I tried not to shake them cause so many were falling out.....but when I cut them, the one motion, the snapping of the cutters, would cause at least a dozen seeds to go flying. LOl, I am remembering how I collected seeds last summer, I had a tall glass (plastic tupperware), I would cut the stem, then turn it over into the glass. all glasses were labeled, and I would go from one plant to another with this cup, and I had put colored yarn on the stems to correspond with the color of flower. I had my daughter trailing behind me with a couple of glasses too, and we just did the rounds of the plants, and snip snip...
