Given the gift of stone ;)

My step-cousin gave us enough flagstone and standstone chunks it took two pick-up loads to move it. We put in a flagstone path along the back of the house, near the pond. We also lined the edge of the pond with stones to better conceal the rim. I still need to do adjustments on that part, but I'd better wait until after we clean it of debris!

I want to have a waterfall in the back left corner again, but I think we'll do some type of interesting water feature with a fountain until fall this year. Next year, I'd like to build up a mound behind the pond and use a liner beneath rocks for a waterfall.

That cool rock behind the pond (with the rounded depression in it) was on our property when we bought the house. For two years it served as the base for our little waterfall. When I moved it again Saturday, I thought it was too interesting to hide beneath a pile for a waterfall and turned it on its edge as a focal point. The stone next to it was one we were just given and I was tickled at how it follows the same angle!

Very pretty! To a gardener a simple rock makes us happy. "T" :)

oh for a load of rock!!!!!!!!! well, actually, my son just traded us a large amount of creek bed stones for a tiny little japanese maple my DH was growing. Best deal we made all year!!

GW: That is sooo beautiful, serene, peaceful and relaxing. Your stones just set it off to a T. Couldn't be more perfect.

Fabulous pond setting and I of course love the wood effect over the pond. I had put some driftwood over a small one a few years ago to keep the cats out and it looked really nice. I have lugged more stone, logs, driftwood and stumps into this yard over the years than most haul out with a loader. I just gotta have that stuff. Good job with the stones!

Thanks, Candee. :) We like having that wood there because the birds perch on it and drink. When we had the X of wood, a squirrel toddled on out and drank, too. :)

your stones are wonderful .So lucky! love your garden statues. cute cute!! Is that some type of bird feeder in the pond too? f

Thanks, Mings. :) That is a hummingbird feeder we found on clearance at Wal-Mart a few weeks ago. They really like it, too! It's a ball with a hole in it; a flower blossom sticks into the hole, and the ball fits into a holder on a stake. Ants are a problem with them, so I had it in the pond to keep them away...But it defeated our efforts to make the pond look natural, so I need to figure another way to ant-proof it elsewhere. Back to the drawing board!
