When will Nicotiana Sylvestris sprout in Ohio (Zone 5/6)?

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

I've read that Nicotiana sylvestris is a great self-seeder and I'm hoping and praying mine will do just that. Last year was the first year I grew it at our new home and it provided us with heavenly scent every night all summer and fall. About when might I expect to see nicotiana seedlings sprouting in central Ohio, zone 5/6? I don't want to yank them by accident if they do sprout. I can't find this variety of seed locally, so I'm also on the prowl for it...I want to be sure to have some in case they didn't self-seed. :o) Thanks in advance for your help!

Gardenwife: They should be poking their heads up around May. They are annuals, so they will germinate when the soil warms.

Two of the nicotiana came back from roots I didn't pull when I cleaned out the beds early this spring. AND...today when I was planting some annuals, I noticed there are many nicotiana seedlings coming up. Yea!!!

Sharing in your happiness gw!!! Lucky you! One of my all time favourites. Any chance of some seeds when my beds are ready?

Sure thing, Louisa; I have a few of the daylight sensation mix left over and you're welcome too them right now. E-mail me if you'd like them. :o) Kimberley
