Opening Alladin's cave!! You never know what treasures await you!! I sometimes return here with anticipation and glee!! But not always!! What will I find today I think to myself! Will I cry, will I laugh? Will someone irk me with a contentious post? Has anyone posted to the Hydrangea or Roses Forum?? Will I discover a new tip, a new plant?? Has anyone had a baby? Is everyone well? How about the weather?? It's all good and makes for better reading than any magazine because there are no annoying commercials or adverts!! Hey-ho, here I go.....now which forum shall I visit first. Well I'm here so better see who's going to Kentucky with Kathleen :-)
DG is like............
DG is like a home away from home. Good conversation, always fun to visit, hate to leave, overstay my welcome sometimes & always look forward to coming back!
Dave's Garden is like a good book once you start reading you don't want to close it and you never know what the next chapter will bring or how it will end.The plot is always changing so it keeps you on the edge wanting to go to the next thread.Sounds like a best seller to me! lol
One of the members described it like "a moth to a flame". I find myself checking in whenever I can. Hearing from members in Brasil, Uk, Ireland, and all over the U.S. of A! It's incredible. The info in mind boggling! I just love it!!
this really should be where unsubscribed members can read that first post. great advertisement.
DG is home.
Dg is like Lays potatoe chips can't just have one fix of it a day.
Got to have many, too many, LOL
Home away from home.
There's no place like Dave's, there's no place like Dave's hear that Toto there's no place like Dave's.
DG is like taking a trip to various parts of the world each and every day. I love seeing the flowers and plants the grow in other places. I love seeing pictures of the landscape and structures in places I would never be able to see otherwise. I love the friendships and all the information.
DG is like a good book that will never have an ending. One that has a balanced combination of fact and fiction. You can read it every day and there's always something new and something to be learned.
Edited to say I should have read all the posts better before I posted mine. LOL! Sorry Peggy, I didn't see that you had already made the book analogy.

you're so right mike no one can stand just one fix a day. i am going tobe away from 5 in the morning until 5pm monday. i will probable be bonkers by then. i really am going to needa fix in a hurry when i get home.
daves has saved my sanity, gave me strengtrh, made me cry for joy, brought new friends in my life that i could never do without now. gave my life more meaning. if i had to give up daves now i just don't think i could bear it. this is my home away from home and all of you are my family. leaving daves would be like losing my family. what an awful thought. thanks dave and trish for what you have given me.
Today(everyday)I got up early n tiptoed out of my bedroom, so not to wake any sleepyheads. Because I want to get on the puter n get to davesgarden without anyone buggin me!! I could have slept in-but noway!!! I am addicted! I have to start my mornings here to see whats happening with all my friends.
I like to see what Evert is doing in Finland and Mark in Ireland and all of my friends in the states!! Look at Ellen and Mel at the quilt show!!! I just luv ya'll so much-i hope that everyone is well and safe everyday!
A day without davesgarden is a day without Sunshine!!!!
And woe betide me if I wake up in the middle of the night!! I used to make a cup of tea and look at my garden books - not now!!! I immediately think of my friends at DG and how they are faring, especially if they are sick or have'nt posted in a while.
OPEN SESEME! Inside the DG cave lies a magical land. It is filled with exotic people from far off lands who also happen to plant amazing plants and share them with others. And the most amazing part is that it is ever changing so that every visit to the cave brings new wonders to behold and new treasures in the form of friendships! All it take to get in is to ride your magic keyboard up to it and whisper the magic password!
Dave's has kept me sane (my family may have a different opinion lol) being a cargiver 24/7 I have to just separate myself from thing several times a day and where to I go? Dave's Garden, I don't think I could have made it without it. Thanks everyone for the prayers and love I found here.
((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))) Yardbird! Being a caregiver around the clock is a blessing and a trial. I hope your time in DG really does help you get away from it when you need a break.
DG is all of the ABOVE !!!!!! [[[[[nana]]]]]]
Nana!! I was worried about you with all the tornados. I'm so glad to see you post again, 'cuz now I know that you are okay.
Yes Joan another reason, a huge reason, why DG is special - we get to keep an eye on our friends and make sure they are OK. Great to see you back (((nana)))
Coming to Dg is like opening up a book of knowledge. Never an ending chapter. It just keeps going, and going, and going. Something different everyday and having the opportunity of meeting new friends as well.
Like it says at the top of the opening page of DG;'Welcome Home; and it truely is home with such a big, and wonderful family to come home to.
You find excitement, sadness, joy and so much caring that goes on here. Who wouldn't want to come to a place like this? Just alittle bit of heaven here on earth.
We have the pleasure of meeting people from all over the world and all walks of life. A place where we can all laugh together and yes, sometimes cry together. A place where we can even act a bit crazy at times and let our hair down;sort a speak; and a place to learn and a chance for us to exchange ideas, hints and tips on growing different things;whether it be flowers or vegetables, a place to view the great pictures taken by so many. Will see pictures from a beautiful butterfly to a big gorilla. Just never know what a person might see here on DG.
Another thing;where else can you find a Webmaster who has such a great wife that we have who is willing to put up will all of us. I'm sure there have been many times when he would just like to pull his hair out,but sticks with us and puts up with all of our silliness. Who could ask for anything better? Always coming up with something new and different and of course I always have to come and see what changes there have been.
What a true and wonderful home we all have here at DH.
What a wonderful place it is to me.
Coming to DG is like killing my chances of ever getting my house clean or letters written, or a million projects finished, cause I can't seem to stay away from this place!
Oh lor Zany did you really have to remind us!!! :-)
Tis true, Zany! In addition to putting aside some of the "daily" chores in favor of DGs, DG has also helped me to work less overtime at work & enjoy life in the garden. It sure is tough to get the right balance though. Once I sit down, I've got inertia & DG to keep me put perhaps a little longer than I shoud :)
Getting away from the hustle-and-bustle of the rat-race. I work from home, and of course, sit at my computer all day. When things start to get boring, I have a wee look to see
a) who's awake at 5:30 am
b) what interesting threads, and posts are up
c) if maybe even I can give somebody a wee tip or two.
It's a great place with seemingly unending knowledge of gardens, seemingly never ending respect for others, and seemingly never ending compassion for the brothers and sisters in the garden.
I will never, ever regret the evening I found this place, and jumped in both feet first.
Thank you all!!!
Wintermoor
Talk about stress reliever too!! Yesterday afternoon something happened to me and I got pretty rattled. When we returned from the store I hurriedly put the food away and came directly here to DG. I felt the stress leaving me within 20 mins!! I went to bed and slept like a baby!! I don't know what I would do without you guys and DG!!

I'll second that, Louisa! And there's no known side effects either :) Wintermoor, I did the same as you last August ~ found it & jumped right in without a second thought.
Actually Morph, there are several serious side effects!
This site may cause soreness around the stomach area. This symptom is caused by laughing too hard at posts.
This site may also contribute to the rising epidimic of friendships being formed across great distances.
Warning: Those who spend too much time here (I know who I am) may find themself being attacked by cobwebs that have taken over the house and scores of dust bunnies under the beds. This is not a serious problem so long as you do not open the door and let anyone else see them.
Dave's is like a jar of salted fresh roast cashews. Their richness makes a small handful more than adequate, but without volition, you find yourself dipping back in the jar for yet a few more.
lol Zany - not to mention the spreading buttocks, bad eyesight, sore neck and arms!! Weezy how original - I like that!! :-)
Actually, I have discovered if I listen to some really upbeat music and dance in my chair while I visit here it keeps me wee buttocks from spreading or going numb.It also seems to keep me from having the sore neck and arms....but it doesn't help with my typing a bit!
Ha-ha..it looks as though we have inherited the 'wee' now from Wintermoor. He has to be pleased about that!! Can't play music at this time of the night/morning, I've got the windows wide open because it's warm and the sound would travel across the lake to the next neighbourhood, not to mention awaken my own household :-)
LOL Margaret! That is what the wireless headphones were invented for!
Really?? Well I'll be blowed.... :-) No, couldn't put up with that either!!
I know I posted on 4-26, but even since then I have discovered an even GREATER love and respect for DG!!! I can't believe how great it is to be a part of this family! Thank you EVERYONE for all that you share! I am so glad that I have 'met' all of you and look forward to MORE, MORE, MORE!!!!!!!
So can we now assume you are well and truly hooked like the rest of us Celia?? Great to have you join our happy band!!! Have a beautiful Sunday :-)
I just wish I could take dg out in my garden to keep me company while I'm weeding!!!!
Becky
BJT72 , DG is in the garden with you! It is there in the plants that thrive with the information you gleened here and with the ideas you gathered here. Every second in my garden I am reminded of someone or something I read in DG! It makes for a very crowded garden having all of you out there with me but it is also great company so the more the merrier!
DG is the best thing since sliced bread! :-)
lousia your so right, but DG is like a box of chocolates, you never know what your going to get. I just couldn't help it since Forrest Gump is one of my all time favorite movies.
Morph there is one more side effect, that is wanting to meet everyone in person, wouldn't it be nice if we could.
I would love to meet Trish and Dave and sneak a peak at their garden this year, maybe one day soon.
:) windsurffer (:
I like the Forrest Gump analogy & you're right about wanting to meet fellow DGers in person. Would we all get along as well in person?
Of course we would, were gardners lol. I think you'll find that if we are just visiting each other then we can get along. I have met some wonderful people here and I find it easy to get along with anyone. I just don't force my point of view on anyone and wouldn't allow anyone else to force theirs on me. My motto is live and let live, and I do know how to walk away.
I think you're right Windsurfer. I talked with Margaret today and I told her that I think when we all die, God is going to put all DGer's in his flower gardens to work together. Hey, I'm looking forward to it. We'll have a blast.
Now that's the sprit. I will be working right beside you, better keep your eye's on me or I'll sneak some of your plants. After all we have to have some fun in heaven as well. I am a big prankster so I'll be switching plants everywhere lol
