I was redirected to Disney for inserting my Trade list URL for Davesgarden.com

Something very interesting just occurred. I was composing a "wanted" post at G.W. and previewed the message and everything was okay. Then I added the URL for my trade list here at Davesgarden.com and I was sent to Disney!!! I tried it again and the same thing happened. When I removed the URL for Davesgarden.com, my post was accepted.

Just wanted to add to the "discussion." Oh, Spike, take your ball and go home!!!

I think Spike is realizing that he is losing MAJOR people because of his actions and Davesgarden has attracted the quality people that Spike threw away(that means everyone here is essential and lets keep up the good practice of using Dave's entire site). Spike is trying to stop more people from finding this site via trade list links because they will end up staying here. I suggest everyone to add a signature (page link) for Davesgarden.com with their email program.
ps..I like the ball comment..lol.

How to beat spikey pooh.
Instead of putting your link to Dave's in the spot spike gives you just type the link into the body of the message. You can say something like "My list is on Dave's Garden: WWW.Davesgarden.com under members and my name is ______". That will actually help us gain more members. That will get people to come to DG and see what it's all about and when they go to the members page they will see the huge list of membes and realize this site is where it is at! They might even look at the forums and peruse that area too!
BTW When you trade with folks on the GW tell them about Dave's and how nice it is here. DON'T TRASH SPIKE when you do. Otherwise they might look upon this site as a bunch of "ANTI" gardenwebbers or complainers. The people that like spike will come here find they like DG and stay. The people that dislike spike you know what they will do...
Hope this gives everybody some good ideas. Just be smart about it. If spike starts sending you to disney for putting "www.davesgarden.com" in the body of your post try "Davesgarden.com" or in your post ask them to e-mail you for your list then you can point them here.

Suggestion for everybody sent to Disney.com.
I wrote a VERY polite e-mail to the folks at Disney telling them about how we all talk about
Disney in a negative matter as a result of The GardenWeb and spike sending people to
Disney. I said things like "people says thing like I don't want to go to Disney" or "I'm afraid
I'll get sent to Disney". I pointed out that it made folks look negatively on Disney. I wished
them luck on correcting the situation with the gardenweb.

If spike has given you a raw deal then may I ask/suggest you do what I did and tell other to
do the same. It only takes a minute. If Disney hears from a few of us the Disney thing will
stop. Yeah I know he'll just do something different BUT it will show that we do have a bit of
power and that might make him realize that he should treat people the way he does.

I took Sari's suggestion and wrote this to Disney.com:
There is a gardening site on the internest called "Garden Web" where if you do something the host, Spike Hernandez, "doesn't like," then your browser is immediately redirected to Disney.com.

My experience is that I was trying to trade for some seeds and I put in the URL for my trade list, which is at another site and which I have done a number of times in the past, my browser was re-directed to Disney.com. I tried this several times and the same thing happened. Once I took out the URL for my trade list to this other garden site, I was able to successfully complete my post.

I think this is very unfair of the Garden Wed site to re-direct like that, especially when one is pressed for time. I love Disney, but I only want to visit it when I want to visit it.

I was sent to Disney for standing for another poster who was banned. I have also sent a letter to Disney along with the address for a thread about Spike. I tried to find Spikes threatening messages that he posted, but I guess they have been run off the board.

This is the content of the e-mail I just received from Disney. (Notice that they state "Legal" dept.)

I was banned, also, and I have to say spike is totally rigid and as i saw him post, really doesn't care who he throws out, lets the deadbeats. I haven't been here for a while, and it is totally AWESOME!!!!! (PS, I am not a bad trader, was catty with someone who is on a post).

Karma, Spike must like that "hystera" word. I was accused of being hysterical when I posted something on the farm life forum. I was just simply passing on info. word for word on what Spike said to his Kitchen Table folks about sites closing down. I was not at all hysterical, just informing my buddies in case the forum was ended one day without notice that I'd miss everyone. It really bothered me. (But not for to long.)

I also got a free pass to Disney but didnt enjoy myself!! I think this thread is a great "healer" as I think people needed to just get it out of thier system because when your treated unfairly it helps to just vent so you can move on. I feel that justice has been served and I can now enjoy the forums without having to sneak around. I actually chose my user name as a keepsake of the GW! I chuckle everytime I see it.
So glad that Disney is aware of all the "free Disney trips" and I also agree that even if Spikie has to reroute people someplace else it is a victory for all the good people who were banned! This is the best "reunion" I have ever attended.

I've been following a post on the DG Suggestions Forum by someone asking why she was sent to Disney when she posted a helpful URL. Trudi said it was because the link was to a company not sponsored by GW, and Spike said it wasn't. Anyway, this is the last message - I've copied it because it won't be there by the time you get there:

Naw....people get sent to Disney for reasons other than advertising, right Spike? Cant even mention the word Disney with out getting sent.

This is the beginning of the end for Spikes forums.

If Spike does start sending people to another site, keep track of the approximate date it starts. Then inform that site of what is happening and they can see that that's when their numbers went up. Maybe even mention he did it with Disney until they took action . . . hopefully they will take action.

Mary Mary. Thank youl. I was the one who snuck that on and I didnt think it made it. Lol. Cant tell you how many times I had to change words around before I used the right ones to allow me to post. Haaaahhaa!! I was emailed from someone about it and by the time I went back there was only ONE post about it ( of course in Spikes favor!) And now the whole thing is gone! Sounds like Mickey had a word with Spike for spike to take the time to delete even the "most sterile" of the thread!!
Goint to print that and put it on my computer.
I will say that I am done messing with Spike. I had my fun and its not even a challenge anymore. Hear that Spike?
