Can I root cuttings from my young Japanese Maple trees? If so how? Where do I cut and what part? How do I get them to root? Hope I can do this, I would like more of these trees and could use them for trade also. Thanks.

Lana would you really cut that beautiful tree?? They grow so slowly and you might spoil the shape. Oh I couldn't do it...ouch!!! :-)

It was in really bad shape when I got it. I did a LOT of pruning last year but didn't know how to root the cuttings. It could use a little more shaping and I don't want to waste the cuttings.

Lana I found a really good site on this. I think it might be a bit tricky though but rewarding in the end. You will need to scroll right down the page to get to the cuttings section!!
