ladybugs

Coeur D Alene, ID

Hi! I'm new and found your ladybug thread on a search engine...now that I'm all registered I can't find it to post...so forgive me for starting a new thread!

My kids and I actually go hunting for the little gals on the beach of the lake to bring home! We'd like to build our own ladybug house but can't find any plans! We're woodworker's so we'd really rather not buy a kit! You can email them privately if you'd like...

Thanks for the help!

Excuse my ignorance but are American Ladybugs what we call Ladybirds?
If so I was astonished today at how many i found crawling over our new decking. My daughter kept calling me over to pick them up and put them on the Buddlia bush. I got hardly anything done, apeart from ladybird saving!

Daisy, yes they are, you will soon pick up the name differences, some i have to ask.

Welcome Ladybugger, try this: http://davesgarden.com/showthread/hahome/5719.html you'll just have to type it in I don't know how to make it clickable. It should have links to ladybug houses. It was in the Hands On Home forum. Julie

Well, maybe I do know how to make it clickable! It didn't change colors until I hit send. Oh well, just click!

Actually I wish I could send a few thousand your way. I am one of millions in at least 8 states that have Asian ladybug infestations. They were a planned release to control aphids. (I still have those too). Well they just make a person's home their own every winter and you have to vaccum their little bitty carcasses up everyday. They move out each summer only to return again in the fall. I'd sure like to talk to the idiots that started this mess! I will never understand what makes those fools at the universities figure they know more than mother nature. Remember Kudzu?
