The DH & I talked about it, and decided,"What the heck!" If Horseshoe says it's time, it must be TIME TO PLANT TOMATOES! I have to say, I was kind of worried when the li'l fella started to shrivel up, but the tomate plant looks pretty good.
OK, Horseshoe, We'll Try it!
Waaaaaah ha ha ha ha! Um Weezin, the tomato looks happier than DH! ROTFL Good thing you listened to Shoe. Would hate for you to wait too long to get your tomatoes out. :)
LOL
How hysterical !! If it dies, I guess it's H'shoe's fault, eh? I love DH's hat. Very Alaskan looking! Reminds me a lot of Northern Exposure (one of the all-time best shows there ever was!)
ROFL - Poor man - at least he's trying!!!!! How on earth did he keep a straight face!!!
It's hard for a man to keep anything straight in cold weather, Louisa!
Hee Hee Hee! Love this! But, did Dennis remember to trim his beard first? I think that's what shoe did before planting his 'maters.
Oh MY!!!! What a Whoot!!!! You guy's are all nut's!!!!!! lol
sue
I don't know who I feel sorrier for then Wheezy!! The man or the plant.....lol!!!
ooooooooooooo my hehehehe this is the best one yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!needs to be in paper hehehe
ooooooo shoe he got you on this one !!!!!!!!!!
[[[[[[[nana]]]]]]]
Weezingreens,
You and your husband are wonderful! :-)
LOL! that is so funny! sure looks cold at the other end of the world!!!!!
ROFL! This is just too funny. I hope your DH has some Miracle Grow in that watering can cause it's gonna take a miracle for that tomato to grow. LOL
Hilarious!!! If you look real close at the tomato and try reeeeeeeeeaaal hard, you can almost imagine that the little tomato is really a lone palm tree near an oasis out in the middle of a vast white desert. *grin*
WG...Are you going to grow Frozen Tomatoes? I never had much luck at frozen tomotoes...too mushy....MUSH? Isn't that what you yell to make the sled dogs go?? Anyhow, good luck on your mater plant!!! Jo
GrannyLois: Northern Exposure was filmed in Washington State, Rosalyn is the town.
I stoped in there a few years ago and had a drink or 2-3-4 at the" Brick"the saloon used as a setting in the series,
Because I was driving a big 4x4 pickup with Alaskan plates they kept buying me drinks so the truck would add a little color in front of the bar for the tourist.
As Alaskans we always got a laugh out of the "poetic license" they took on that show. But as for doing a show like that, it would have taken them four years to shoot one season, here in Seward. Things move kinda slow here.
Dennis....................
Whaaahaaahaaa! How funny! Poor little mater plant, it just needs a friend to cuddle with and help keep it warm ;~D Where's Shoe? Can't wait to hear his 10 cents. :~)
Lana
glad to see a man with a sense of humor!!! (but did the poor tomato make it?)
That's priceless. You obviously has a DH that will humor you! LOL!
Hey, Weez and Dennis! Even Dave liked it! It's the pic of the day in the newsletter tonight!! Your little tomato's famous! Why doncha' go tell him ~ his blushing might help keep him warm. ;-)
I love it! What a great sense of humor! By the way, when is beard trimming/mater planting time in Alaska?
ROTFL!!!! Way to start the day with a HUGE grin - too funny guys :)
Oh my! Look at all that snow! Poor mater probably froze as soon as it hit the hole!
Priceless!! I got the newsletter and had to come straight here to see the response!
HAH!!!...I just now found this!!! GREAT!!! I'm tempted to print it out and frame the pic!! (And lookit that beard! That man's all right ain't he~?)
I suppose that mater is one of those Russian/Siberian varieties that can flourish in extreme conditions, eh? And the pickin's might make a great tomato smoothie!
This is so cool! (No pun intended.) Hope I ain't in hot water over giving such sage advice!
Don't you worry, Horseshoe. We have faith in that beard of yours. I'm washing out canning jars as we speak, expecting a big bumper crop of maters! Of course, maybe freezing them would be better... handier, anyway!
I always have liked men with beards. I can't abide those five o'clock shadows and whisker burns.
How on earth did I miss this?????
Just toooooo funny, ROFLMBO!!
You two are obviously so well suited, and both nuts!
So disappointing to find that Northern Exposure wasn't genuinely Alaskan - though not a total surprise!
Still great though, I'm with you on that one GrannyLois :)
That's really funny!!!
Surely this should come under a new exciting documentary type category of 'Great Gardening Action'!!!
Well done to you both.
All the best
Wintermoor
Maybe it's time to bump this one backup!! Couse we now need to find Shoe's thread about when it's time to cut his beard. Thought I'd never find it in all the threads Weeszi has started!
I somehow missed this the first time around, so thanks for bumping it up. I agree with Shoe, that picture should be framed as a gardening humor classic. Ranks right up there with Dave's bleeding heart.
Y'all ain't right!
This is just too funny!!!
Nice:) I`m glad that you`re early.....
Azalea, thanks for bumping this one up! We had such fun taking this picture! LOL
And it's still so funny :-)
Yes - definitely a classic!!!!
Aaaaah - this is just as fun the second time around, just like a good garlicy meal! ;)
Heeeeeere's that Shoe thread: http://davesgarden.com/t/227205/

Curious minds want to know: how many bushels of frozen 'maters did you get last spring????
I scared my cat laughing so hard!!!!
ROTFL!!!
Ok, as long as we're resurrecting these old threads, http://davesgarden.com/t/213802/
This thread has been linked here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/957658/ in honor of Weezingreen's dearly departed Dennis.
Oh, how sad. Weeze and I were just talking about this pic a couple weeks ago :(
