Since Earth Day is coming soon , please plant a tree / shrub for present and future generations to enjoy .
The Vote for America's National Tree has put the following five trees in the lead so far -- (in alphabetical order) Dogwood, Maple, Oak, Pine and Redwood.

I really wanted to vote for the Chestnut Tree but it's been pretty much decimated by various factors at this point. I live in So. Cal. and all of the trees listed exist in our state. It's hard to chose but if it's to be the nation's tree, I'd vote for the Dogwood.

Hey, if we are not careful the Dogwood could go the way of the American Chestnut. There is a disease that is attacking our natives and does kill them in a couple of years. There is no effective control. It came over possibly on some Kousa dogwoods.

just an FYI.

I voted for the redbud.
