Plants for dry shade

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

Could you all tell me your favorite blooming plants for dry shade?

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

How about Lamium galeobdolon 'Variegatum' - Vinca 'Bowles White' - Pulmonaria 'Sissinghurst White' - all underplanted with bluebells. Looks marvellous under a dense tree canopy.

I have adenephora(ladybells) that grow in dry shade, common form of columbines, lamium-
Silver Beacon and vinca minor. Did I mention violets-love those. My "text" for what to plant in what areas, also mentions dicentra eximia and lirope. The book is Right Plant, Right Place by Nicola Ferguson--great book with pertinent information and cross-referenced like a certain plant that can grow in dry shade and over chalk.

Thanks, ladies. Marcia, I have heard of Right Plant, Right Place but didn't think of it. Thanks for reminding me. I have quite a bit of dicentra seed I traded for so I am off and running. Aren't there some perennial types of dicentra?

Mine are perennial in WI, both the white and the regular red also self-seed. These are the old-fashioned ones, that get about 2 foot tall, and die back in early summer.

(Zone 5b)

Try brunnera macrophylla

corydalis

epimedium

sweet woodruff
