Will Cardinal Climber do OK in part shade? I want some to grow up the porch but it gets some shade. Most of my close up yard gets shade. I am planting some MG on the fence next to a unused pasture. That is full sun.

cardinal Climber
What I read is it likes full sun and hardy in zone 9 - 10
I have a similar vine that has grown well for me in partial shade. The flowers are the same shape, but a little more orange in color, and the leaves are more heart-shaped---kind of a lobed heart, if you can picture that. It's a wild morning glory, and the hummingbirds love it. E-me if you'd like to try some seeds.
I grew cc last year on my west side fence and it only got evening sun and not alot of water...I had to trim it and trim it to keep it contained...
I think it should do well!
Cheers!
Rebecca
I had some C climber planted in a spot that had some afternoon shade and it had done fine too ..Hopefully yours will do well also...Good Luck
My cardinal climber did real well with partial shade. I think it kept it from drying out too much and the flowers seemed to last longer. Maybe that was my imagination.
