I am new to "puters" and to Dave's Garden. I do not have any seeds to trade. Have a small flower garden but don't even know how to get the seeds from the plants. I am in zone 4 and it will be a long time before the snow melts. I don'rt even know how to understand your lists...what's "thread" and "thread maker" mean. help
no seeds
Hi, MJ, and welcome.
To answer your questions in the most important order, don't worry about not having seeds yet. Most of us are quite willing to share for just the cost of postage.
So, let us know what you're looking for. Could be general (i.e., flowers) or specific (xyz variety of tomatoes). Somebody will let you know how to send them an SASE (self addressed stamped envelope) for what you are looking for.
As for "thread" and "thread maker", don't be intimidated by on-line talk. It all comes to you fairly quickly. In this case, a thread is a topic of descussion. Right now we are on a thread called "no seeds." The thread maker is the person who started the particular thread; in this case that's you.
We all had to start sometime, and most of us remember what it was like. You have learned the most important lesson already, though: if you don't understand something, don't be embarrassed to ask.
So......what kind of seeds are you looking for?
Hi mjw, I have been trading for less than a year and I still fumble about trying to find what is where and which etc. My late foster mom was from near Red Wing and a gardener, in her honor I would be pleased to send you a supply of flower seeds, with the stuff I know about them, to help you get started. Gardening for me is often hit or miss,I do my best work with benign neglect. Marcia magdor@chorus.net
Hello mjw, What a great group of folks you've stumbled on. What do you need for your garden? I don't know what grows in your zone, send me an email and I may have a few things to help you out. Just click on to my name "justmeLisa" in the bold blue print on the left hand corner of this box, it will send an email straight to me. Bye, Lisa
Hi mjw-I am into tomatoes. If you want to try growing some tomato seeds let me know and I will send you some for a SASE and point you to some info resources. Connie
I am looking for the following:
4 varieties of Ficus carica {1) Celeste, 2) Brown Turkey, 3) Gillette {caprifig}, 4) Lattarula (common name = fig)}, Juglans Ailanthifolia cordiformis (common name = heartnut), Aralia nudicaulis (common name = american sarsaparilla or false sarsaparilla), Humulus lupulus (common name = hops), Ligustrum ibolium (common name = North privet), and Smilax China (common name = Chinese sarsaparilla). If someone has the seed of any of the plants noted above or knows where to buy it from, please let me know. Thank you.
