While you are at your puter, do you

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

eat, do your nails, read, pace back and forth, or what? I usually bring up an assortment of food, a bottle of water and maybe a cup of coffee. I try to keep a supply of cookies in tins, some mixed nuts, a few crackers. While I wait for pages to load, I either play solitaire, read or graze. I was wondering what other people do as they surf, and what snacks they prefer. My current one is trail mix.

Aimee
I nibble too...my fav of the month is dried cranberries.
I also drink alot of tea with lemon and even light candles for the mood and aroma. It's my "spa" time after the wee ones are in bed.
Also like salty snacks sometimes like toasted pumpkin seeds.
Now I am going to fix up some trail mix as Aimee you have made me crave it. Please pass your cookies too...Ta!
:)

Sometimes I eat noodles or something... or read.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

I dont do much of anything....tap my fingers when there is a lag, but otherwise, I just pretty much stare at the screen. I do usually have something to drink though, I diet coke, or water.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

If I have some chips to snack on, then I usually grab some of those (barbeque) :)
otherwise, I always have caffeine free pepsi or some caffeine free tea and of course my cigs :)
If I'm not surfing the net, or if pages take too long to load, then I just go off and play one of my fav games........either the Sims or Civilization II. Both are simulation games and rather interesting and fun

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Amanda, I am wild about dried cranberries! But I do the candles almost 24/7 until I run out or the weather turns too warm. I also try to catch up on unread emails, like PC World, etc.

Great thread Aimee, often wondered myself as what others do while at the puter'

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

With my old computer, I used to take a nap while my computer loaded! Now with the new hard drive, it's really quick. I can barely start a solitair game before the page is up...what a luxury!

My food of choice at the computer is a handful of Gummy Bears...pineapples are my favorite. Otherwise, I try not to keep food by the computer, since I figure the effort of going downstairs is at least some exercise!

Sometimes I check email or send a message if I have to wait for some reason. Loading the membership list is one of those instances. We're a big family!

My time at the computer is pretty boring...That's all I do. Very rarely have food or drinks at the computer. Guess I'm too anal retentive. Besides...I can't sit still that long. Going to have to try those cranberries though....

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Those dried cranberries (Craisins?) are wonderful on a bed of baby greens with a bit of your favorite cream dressing or vinegrete...but not on the computer, I guess. My DH keeps a container of antacids next to the computer... maybe Dave's Garden give him heartburn... or maybe it's what I post to Dave's that does it!

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Weez, Craisins are different from plain dried cranberries. But any dried fruit is good, and I keep a variety, since so much fruit is said to fight free radicals. I eat a lot of things I like but would never indulge in, since I know my body needs it to ward off cancer. Just finished my green tea, in fact!

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

So, if I like Craisins, I'd probably love dried cranberries! We have a lovely dehydrator, but, alas, no real fruit. The fruit in the stores was probably picked green and far too expensive to dry. Good for you that you are taking care of your body and actively taking charge of your health.

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Hey, it only takes one terminal incurable big bad bout with cancer to get my attention forevermore! I always ate rather healthily, but now it's a dedicated effort. I buy strawberries and blueberries at any price all year, feel virtuous when I down my beloved turnip greens, and avoid taking up too much space for meats. Not a big change in diet, just in my attitude about it and less concern about being so darned thrifty.

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Isn't it a sad state of affairs when you have to pay more to eat things that someone didn't take the time to process! I truly believe our health is really based on what goes into our bodies and what comes out. The times in my life that I have really eaten "clean", I've felt much better.. so why don't I do it all the time? I think a good scare puts the fear of God into us all.

(Zone 8a)

I drink $300 bottle of wine and snack on caviar and that Pate stuff W/little crackers...strawberries covered with dark chocolate dipped in whip cream... I'm only dreaming!

LOL...When I hit the lottery!

Really, I don't snack on anything...I just drink a toddy or two!

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

GODIVA ice~SCREAM! Love it. and chips and salsa. just FINALLY foound a good salsa. First of all. there are too many salsa choices. I think my one grocery store must have 75 choices. BUT,,,,that 's another photo....I think so far, I am hooked on the Medium. Chi~Chi ORIGINAL Chilled. shaken. not stirred.

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

I have my ever present glass of ice tea. The TV is being ignored in the background as DH surfs the channels while I surf the net. I am wearing headphones to block out the TV and am listening to CD's and humming along which of course is irratating DH who claims it is distracting and interferes with his TV show...He doesn't say which one and I know he has not been on a single channel long enough to have heard anything anyway...so off come the head phones and we have a lovely discussion about how I annoy him with my habits and how he drives me crazy with his channel surfing and should we try that new restaurant next week or other interesting things like the weather....until my page is loaded and his surfing finger gets itchy and I put the head phones back on and forget that I shouldn't hummmmm hummmm la da da hummm

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

I'm very boring at the puter. Usually just concentrate on the screen and what i'm doing (not enough spare brain for much extra). Sometimes have a coffee, but leave my snacking to other times as i've learnt by bitter experience that a sticky mouse is not a pleasant thing LOL.

I have a cup of tea or fruit juice and that's it normally. I can't sit for long periods of time so I sometimes get up and do the washing up and other little things to keep me moving.

Plymouth, MI(Zone 6a)

Sing, play with my Sadie dog, daydream out the window. Polish my nails, do chair exercises, whistle a happy tune,
run to the john, practice my typing, sharpen pencils, drink crystal light, go through coupons, plan my meals, dust, really just about everything!

I have hot coffee until the caraffe is empty, then I switch to water. I spend a lot of time online, so if I kept snacks here, I'd never lose any weight! I've been snacking on baby carrots while I'm here, too. :) And the doggie treats are in a zip-loc bag on the desk so they're handy for training Emma to come when called. I showed Emma how to "shake hands" three times....Now she views me as a food dispenser, trotting up, sitting down, and putting her paw on my knee like it's a lever. ;)

Decatur, MI(Zone 5a)

I just play game's have a caffeine free pepsi,
and try to sleep, but this is pretty fast

I have coffee in the morning at the 'puter, then diet Coke or ice water whenever I'm on it the rest of the day. And (yeah, Flowox, me, too, for now) cigs. If I work up an appetite typing, it's homemade hot sauce (salsa) and tortilla chips usually, but I do love apples and peanut butter. Yeah, not so good for me, but half of it is good for me! LOL! I try to keep other kinds of fruit around as well ~ LOVE pineapple and bananas, sometimes mashed together. Yum!

As far as DOING something while online, it's whatever housework needs to be done. At night, I'm like Zany ~ DH channel surfs while I surf online.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

If I'm at work, I have coffee or lemon water and one whole computer all to myself. It's like heaven. When I'm at home I have teenagers that I have to share the computer with, so it's kind of an on and off thing until later in the evening when they are done doing what they have to do. I don't usually have anything to eat or drink at the computer in the early evenings, cuz I'm not here for a long run. Later in the evening, DH and I will sometimes open a bottle of wine or fix a drink while we wind down for the day. If we don't do that, then I drink lemon water or make a cup of tea (Hot in the winter, iced in the summer).

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

Oh, yeah, I fogot about the toddies! DH just decided to mix himself one and brought me one, as well. He's such a doll.

Blum, TX(Zone 8a)

my DH just brought me a bag of smuckers jelly beans so that's what I'm snackin' on now! reach in and grab yourself a handful!

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Hey, tink...I'll trade you a handful of Gummy Bears for a handful of jelly beans!
