Mold Making Products

Does anyone know where I can find the products to make rubber molds? I did have a web addres for this product but lost it when we took our computer in for a check up. I think they are made out of polyurenthane but I am not sure.

windsurffer, liquid latex is the best thing I've found to make rubber molds. They sell it in jars in the hobby train shops. They usually use them to make molds for miniature rocks and things. I used to buy it to make rubber molds of figurines. Just brush on the piece you want to make a mold of and let dry in between coats. Give it a try. I know there is a trainshop on Indianola but I'm sure there are more in the columbus area :)

Hey Flo how big is the liquid latex? I need quite a bit so I can make a statue to put on my baby Bittles grave. I would need enough to cover a statue about 36" high.

wow, ok, that won't work then. you would need to be able to support the mold somehow though. The liquid latex that carpenters use to lay carpet is the same thing and you may be able to get a big quantity at a carpet store or something like that. There is a way to make molds out of plaster too. I would have to find the info again, don't remember where I saw it but that would be more of what you would need so it would be more like a mold that they use to pour ceramics. It would be solid and you would make 2 halves that go together.
What will you be using to make the actual statue?

Flo you know the small plastic containers that your tomatoes come in, well that is the kind of mold that I want to make and not the rubber kind,boy am I loosing my mind or what??? I want to make a face mold that is thin plastic but frim enough to hold the material wich will not be concrete but a lighter product.

Hopefully soon,Flow I really do want to meet you but to give you an answer as to when right now would be just a promise. I don't like going back on my word that's why I can't give it right now until things settle down here.
Now just remember this much...once everything is half way right here, and you and I do get the chance to meet don't start complaining when I start wanting to get together for a lot of differnt things like shopping,crafts,cooking, grilling outside with a couple of cold ones, and finally the piaza rezist-ti-aunce (lol) I don't want to hear how Kit sniffer all the fragrance off your flower and now you have to find a prefume to replace it.

Would a plaster of paris mold work?

yes it would to make the first mold but I need to make a thin hard plastic mold, you know like the kind that your tomatoes and berries come in at the grocery store and it has to be a two side mold.
