What is the best way to "nick" seeds...these aren't that big. Thanks!
Nick seeds
Use a nail file or a piece of sandpaper until you get throught the outer shell.

I use fingernail clippers. You just need to make sure you only get the outer edge of the seed. If you go too deep you might damage the inside of the seed. I use them for everything from morning glories to lupine seeds.
I roll the seed in a piece of sandpaper between my thumb and forefinger. I'm bound to cut myself if I use a knife!
I always wonder how to nick those small seeds, Baa I think I am like you so I will use the sand paper..thanks.
I use one of those 'diamond dust' nail files. Works great and lasts forever. My idea of a manicure is a pair of nail clippers and one of these files to take the rough edges off,so it does double duty.
