Have fun and make sure you do see a roo and koala. If your'e lucky you'll be able to hold a bear...Leave the roo alone, they really are dangerous. I lived there 15 months while in the Air Force!

I can't believe that no one has mentioned "Vegamite" - but once you hit the land down under, you will have to ask yourself just how brave you are about sampling this Aussie condiment!!!!!

Have a wonderous trip - it is a land not to be forgotten!!!

Oh My,I think I read a post once saying they are band there...can't remember...I think I heard they confiscated someones seeds....

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Glory...brugs seeds are not allowed and I think they did ban them a few years ago...stop by a nursery and ask about them.Would be fun to know how they have handled them.

Temuco, Chile(Zone 9b)

There are Brugs in Australia, plenty in Victoria and in NSW.
I do not know much about their status in Western Australia (Perth), but Western Australia is an orchid paradise over 300 species, and very near Perth there are many natives Orchids.

About seeds, always the restrictions are and had been very tough, custom and the Postal Service are enpowered to open any suspicious envelope or parcel and they do confiscate and destroyed ANY article found, you have to be "very careful" with packages to make them pass through.
My mum was always successful when she did send me seeds.

cristina

Kyle,
I stopped by a nursery yesterday and they knew nothing about Brugs. :{ Guess I'm going to have to check out Victoria.

Cristina,
I will check out the orchid's here. I will eamil you and maybe you can give me some pointers.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Gloria . . .
Sounds like you are having so much fun - - despite no brugs . . . so far!!!

Temuco, Chile(Zone 9b)

Gloria let us know how your trip is continuig.
I've asked Barry to show you his orchid collection, give him a ring , he lives near Perth so it may be interesting for you to meet another gardener.

cristina

cristina,
Talked to Barry earlier...very kind man.....Thank You.
Went to Kings Park...beautiful...we even made our way back home on the city bus by ourselves. LOL More later.

Hi all,
Here I am again....been shopping, shopping and more shopping. I have been able to find some seeds for native Australian plants that are packaged for export.

Went to a resturant on the Indian Ocean yesterday for lunch....boy is that water pretty.

I can't hardly believe it but in 3 more days we'll be on the big bird in the sky heading back home.

More later.
