peony tree seeds

I got some peony Tree seeds and would love to know how to plant them. ANy one have luck doing this?

Where did you get them???I'd love to get some but not sure about how to start them.I heard all kinds of comments about "they gotta be grafted " but philomel said he grew them from seed

HI Crested

They came in a surprise package from someone in Canada. It was part of a secret trade in did in the fall and the person got ill and couldnt send right away. Then they wrote and asked if I wanted the trade now or wait till my weather was better. I suggested waiting. THen friday I came home to find the package and along with the seeds in there.

You are sooo lucky,the only place i found that has seeds is in England,too much hassel to order out of the country now....

I've emailed you tamlamb, but in case others are interested:

I first realised that they could be grown from seed when i found a self sown plant under my shrub. Just put the seed in a pot of compost and leave outside in the shade (remembering to keep it moist of course) and wait. Can
take a year, but i had some quicker.
