Usually don't use my rom for music, since my stereo system is just across from my loft office and I can listen to the music across the entire house. However, the other day, after following one of the threads about old music, I brought a Mills Brothers CD up with me and listened to it on the rom...quite nice. I feel old, Evert. I don't recognize any of your music! My son's listen to snowboard music, and I can listen to about two or three songs, then my wiring starts to smoke!

I like Collective Soul, but that's probably passe by now to you. My DH & I were raised your age in the 60's, so we enjoy listening to the music of the 60's and 70's...mostly old rock. He's a Clapton fan, and mourned Janis Joplin's death with a black armband!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I listen to Morganne, Kristenne, Carlynne and Lillienne playing together, fighting, etc. And Jazzlinne cries to be fed when it isn't the steady hum of her swing. LOL Okay, those are my kids and that is a normal day. I also have to listen to kid videos and kid movies, but hey, it allows me some time to play on the computer. :)

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

on yahoo radio there's a great oldies station that I mostly listen to.

For cd's on my pc, either Rod Stewart or Enya, depending on my mood :-)

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I listen to my DH's tv :)

Allen Park, MI(Zone 6a)

I listen to KPIX from Muskogee,OK via the web.
Its a great oldies station.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

I listen mostly to WKAR FM90.5 Classical music out of East Lansing, Michigan!

My 'puter speakers are broke (Darnit! I want to hear that Finnish band, Evert!), so I do the stereo thing, too. I like to listen to KFAN Texas Rebel Radio http://www.texasrebelradio.com while I'm surfing if DH doesn't have the tv on (right now, I'm listening to COPS. LOL!). KFAN is a different kind of radio station ~ they play local musicians as well as Willie & Waylon, America, Johnny Paycheck, Eric Clapton, the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Bob Wills, John Prine, Johnny Cash, Jimmy Buffet, Lyle Lovett, etc., etc. ~ what a mix, huh? Sometimes it comes in clear and sometimes not (mostly not) ~ gotta' get that bigger antenna or better 'puter speakers (you can listen online at the link above).

Weez, I still listen to Collective Soul when I get up the gumption to actually play a CD instead of letting the radio do the playing for me. Guess who's coming to Austin soon? Crosby, Stills, Nash AND YOUNG! I've seen CSN twice and Stephen Stills once live. Two of those shows were at a local open-air venue called The Backyard ~ huge pecan trees, wooden decks, moonlight. GREAT place! Nothin' like listening to "Treetop Flier" live with a big ole full moon hangin' over the stage.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Oh, Evert, I like them! I'd never heard them before. The lead singer's voice reminds me a little of Madonna's. Their harmonies are very good, too.

Now, Weezingreens, don't feel old. Anyway, the composer Jean Sibelius lived 1865-1957, so even if ya ARE old...He's older, LOL! ;)

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Hey, Wingnut. You lucky duck! Wish I could have heard CSN live and in such a nice environment. We've got CD's of nearly everything they recorded, including David Crosby's solo release a few years back... all good!

Oh, it was great, Weez! The tree limbs hanging over the place like a natural roof with stars blinking in between them gave a whole new solemnity to "Winchester Cathedral." Awesome! Sadly, I may have to miss them when they come through Austin this year. We're so busy that we don't have much time for other things, even concerts. It's not an EXTREMELY GREAT loss as this time they'll be at the Erwin Center and I'm spoiled to hearing them at the Backyard ~ won't even be the same. But I would really like to hear them live with Neil Young's input. To soothe my disappointment, can I bring a bunch of blank tapes and come on over to your place for a "dubbing party"? LOL! I'd love to have copies of everything they've done!

On a side note, we had some neighbors over for my birthday and come to find out one of them, Mark, was a prison guard in Dallas when Croz was in there! He giggled everytime they played "Almost Cut My Hair" ~ said it really DID hack off the warden! LOL!

I download a pile of songs every day through Bearshare.

I put them into the Real Jukebox, and just let them play away all day. I can set it up so that I can listen to ballads, rock, soft jazz, oldies and Scottish. Another feature is that it can pick songs at random and blend them in and out, so I could have a mixture of Nat King Cole, Shaggy, Scottish Bagpipe music, ac/dc, Neil Diamond, Dianna Krall, and Roxy Music all in succession.

It makes radio sound boring after you've heard 'Teach Your Children Well' from CSNY, blending into 'The Green Manalishi' from Judas Priest, then on to The Rankin Family singing 'Chi Mi Na Morbheanna (The Mist Covered Mountains ), in Scottish Gaelic.

I listen to everything and anything Evert.

All the best

Oh boy ! my boys goes crazy over music most "TECHNO" lots of CD's they has.

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

Oh, man! AC/DC and Judas Priest?! MAN does that bring back memories from high school!! Bearshare? That sounds like a neat thing. I'll have to check it out for when I (eventually!!!!!) get a new 'puter with good speakers. Is it at www.bearshare.com?

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

I use http://www.audiogalaxy.com it finds much more songs =)

Jesteburg-Wiedenhof, Germany(Zone 8a)

Hi Wingnut,
yes the adress is www.bearshare.com and it's the biggest on the net since Napster was shot down.

Hi Evert,
Audiogalaxy is an excellent site, but it tends to block some systems, (including mine & some friends here in Hamburg), where my computer had stops for up to 30 seconds. This is specially true if you use AOL, like me. So I went over to Gnutella and took bearshare, which is their biggest client. Some of my mates in the music business here in Hamburg, swear that morpheus is the best, but their not as big as bearshare or audiogalaxy, and have mainly techno, etc..

All the best

Thanks, Wintermoor! Yes, didn't I see somewhere that you are in the music biz? So I guess you'd know what're the good music sites, huh? :-) Thanks again!

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Wintermoor: we're big Dougie McLean fans here in Alaska.
He does a concert about once a year in Anchorage. We've been to most of them.

Hope to get to his pub/studio befor we need the wheel-chair ramps to get inside and order a pint.
