OXI-CLEAN

Perrysburg, OH(Zone 5a)

I just bought some oxiclean, it seemed to brighten up my comforters and I'm now soaking a pair of shorts with an unknown stain. Has anyone used this yet??? What did you think of it? Would you buy it again??
Thanks,
Becky

Becky, I cant believe you posted this! I just finished using oxi tonite on my winter jacket. Its an off white jacket with instructions to dry clean. I decided to wash myself and threw in a scoop of oxiclean along with wisk. washed on wash and wear cycle warm water and it came out beautiful. I got some makeup on the collar and had a few spots on the front, it all came out. I will try it on some other things but I will probably buy it again.

i cleaned my carpet with it. WOW! it did a good job. came out almost new looking. it is a very light cream color carpet. it does make my clothes come out clean i haven't used bleach in my washer since first time using this stuff. and it uses less laundry soap.

I want to post a reply to this thread even though I have never used Oxi-Clean. (Although I admit the commercials ARE tempting.)

Over many years, mostly when I lived in Atlanta, I would have some stains on clothing that I couldn't remove, no matter what I did, no matter what product I used, and no matter what the fabric. Being of a technical bent of mind, I tried to figure it out.

I finally found that if I took them on my semi-annual visit to my Mother who had spring water, she'd spritz them with the same stain-removing compounds I was using (plain ole off the counter stuff), wash them and voila! no more stains. My conclusion from that is there is something in 'treated' water that helps bind organic stains, and nothing in spring water that keeps them from going away.

Of course, I don't have access to spring water anymore, as I think you may not have either... It's just a comment on one factor that might affect stains. Might even affect the viability of Oxi-Clean, depending on your water.

I LOVE Oxi-Clean and won't be without it. It has taken OLD NASTY stains out, spaghetti sauce on white, ink on white lab coats, chocolate, blood, poop, you name it, OxiClean has gotten it out.

Now as far as the Orange Clean degreaser, that was a BIG disappointment; it didn't work at all, which is a shame, since the active ingredient, d-limonene, in its pure form, is about the strongest degreaser in the world.

Go figure.

Just my 2 cents.

Well, my shorts have soaked overnight and the stain is still there, it looks kind of like rust. I will let them soak for the day with some more oxi-clean, hopefully it will be gone when I get home but I think not.

I feel the same way as Janie; I LOVE Oxiclean, but would not give ten cents for the orange stuff. I use oxiclean for really bad stains on carpet - it really does a good job. I like to put a scoop in my washing machine along with my white clothes, and it really makes a difference.

I also love the Oxiclean powder in my laundry. Definitely brightens clothes. But I haven't tried any other products. I'm a big fan of Simple Green cleaner so it's difficult for me to try anything else.

I tried the Oxclean and wasn't that impressed. For rust stains, I've had good luck using Iron Out. When dd and dh return home from a cattle show, you would believe the gunk that is on their clothes. I tried the Oxiclean and didn't do that well. Someone suggested dumping a can of coke in the wash with those yucky clothes and that worked much better.

I love OXI-CLEAN, I had a friend say she didnt think it worked, and we talked about it, turns out she was using it with cold water, we all know you have to use it with hot water right?????
I swear by it, and like they say, it gets out all organic stains....
