Here the first time I see so bad Gnats and I did spray last few weeks ago forgot the name so, it did not kill them much. I can't stand this.

I used to take a yellow dish detergent bottle (or anything that is yellow plastic), cut it into 6X8" strips, and punch a hole in the top. Then I would hang it up and smear it with Vaseline. The fungus gnats are attracted to yellow for some reason and they would fly in, try to land, and get stuck in the Vaseline.

They lay eggs in your potting soil though, and I use insecticidal soap to kill the larvae. You have to do it once a week for a couple of weeks to get them all.

A homemade insecticidal soap is: 1 teaspoon of liquid original green palmolive dish soap to 1 quart of water in a spray bottle. Spray the whole plant, plus spray on top of dirt every 10 days for fungus knats, also great for spider mites.

Indashade: Thanks for the tip on the yellow plastic coated with vasoline, that is a new one for me. I have boughten the yellow glue tags before. It is nice to know, will have to do it in the greenhouse.
