Attention All Brug Lovers

Thats Me Liz,

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Hey there - welcome again. You can spend the next 6 months reading all the great archive info here if you haven't already. The people here are great (off the wall but great)You're going to have to get in on the double pink club, the Brugman/Eclipse/Monika fan club. You let a Charles Grimaldi die?? I thought that was impossible - but I think I can help you out with a rooted one. Remind me a little later in the season - I think I still have your address.

(Zone 5a)

Ok since you have too many to count then tell me which one is your favorite?

mine hasn't bloomed yet, but Equador Pink is my fav so far.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

I'll pick two - Rosabelle (haven't seen it bloom yet) and my Roter Vulkan who has three buds on it for the first time. It's hard to pick a favorite. It's easier to pick a least favorite - but diplomacy demands that you don't tell anyone publicly. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder afterall. Pick lists are always subject to change. Daily~~

I think they are all beautiful, and can't wait until I have a favorite

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

As I've said before,my favorite is what ever is in bloom...

Liz, I must agree with you. My favorites change from day to day almost. That much is surely true, but just a few more months and all of our Brugmansia will be putting out new growth for cuttings. I think with all the seedlings everyone has started that we are bound for some more beautiful creations.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I have over a hundred in large pots, 300 in 4.5 inch pots and an unknown amount of seedlings just coming up. Just to think, last year I was happy that I had 4 varieties!!
Wonder where I could get a Rothkirch?? Of course, I would be like Hibiscus and take the 5th or Eric would drive up here and be begging for it!!!

FSH, TX

Hodniks sells Rothkirch, but you'd have to quarantine it for 2 years. I just want enough pollen to last 2 years though. Lol, thats roughly a pint of pollen for me. Bartender, pass me a pint and I'll be happy. Funny, I would rather have the pollen than a plant. Only because I am hoping one could create something just as beautiful if not more so while waiting for the actual hybrid to get released. Of course, the Rothkirch is a one of a kind...there may be no duplicating her or improving her. If the truth be known I want Rothkirch most for her deep color.

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

I found another one I want a Morgensonne

Honibee-its a disease. Once you catch the Brug bug it never lets go. Run for your life while you still can. Everytime I see a new picture I see a new Brugmansia I want to have. Luckily for me, I have sworn myself to only mixed hybrids and pure aurea's. I like my mixed hybrids to have aurea in them though.

(Zone 5a)

ATTENTION EVERYONE!!! Let it now be known that Cala has a brug store so let's go raid it lol, Cala your just tooo much. Brug I hope that you get the Rothkirch you want, good luck.
To the rest of you Brug-a-holics may you get the one you've always wanted.

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

I still get really confused because so many look a lot alike. I did get the peissel book and hope to learn something.

FSH, TX

Honibee-I think the reason for a lot of that is that they are actually the same hybrid or perhaps they were created from the same cross made by two different hybridizers. All I know is your right and Monika has identified a few of them who have the different names for the same hybrid.

Liz-

I know, can't believe it died either. I have had a real battle with bugs this season in the sunroom. Just about got it under control and the brugs I have left are doing well.

About this Monika/ double pink brug thing. I am guessing since the way you stated about my Charles G dying that I am not going to be welcome in that fan club just yet. LOL!

Give me time, I will read all, and learn Alot. I did not realize how much there is to learn about these wonderful plants and all there hybrid crosses...etc.

Thanks for the offer with the charles G. Will keep in touch.

Crys - I can't even count the number of brugs I've killed! It's normal. Better you start off killing Charles - there's more where he came from.
And the double pink club? We're all feeling our way in the dark so you should fit right in.

(Zone 5a)

Hey Brugman what color is the Rothkirch and is it a double?
I was trying to find a picture of it so I could see what your talking about but didn't find one.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Wind - this is a thread with Monika's Rothkirch picture.

I have 5 plain janes I guess. They were given to me and she said this one is white, this one is pink, and this one is yellow and this one is a sorta peach, so if you don`t have these hard to find rare colors I will share with you. I am looking for any plain double.I love these anyway.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

There are no plain jane brugs - they're all beautiful.

(Zone 5a)

Thanks Poppy they are beautiful, now I can understand why Brugman wants them.
I think your right Liz I think they all are beautiful.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Windsurffer...we all want Rothkirch for its wild genes...a hard trait to find in all these 2nd and 3rd generation hybrids..need to cross back to wild every so often to keep things in perspective!!LOL
:-)

(Zone 5a)

Eclipse if I run accross any I will let you all know but if you guys haven't found it then it's not likely that I will.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Windsurffer ... ((HUGS)) thanks..I keep looking and hopin.Maybe if its that hard to keep alive and multiply then maybe it won't get added to my collection. :-)

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

It seems to me if its a wild form, then it has to be a hardy variety.Something must have happened to it in cultivation for it to become so delicate. What would cause that?Virus?
