DH was playing around on the computer yesterday and found this site called www.missingmoney.com. Anyway he typed in our names and found we both may have missing money. One was a place he lived at 18 years ago, one was a place I lived at 17 years ago, and another was where I lived 10 years ago. He also found funds due his deceased father. Since we both don't have common last names and one of the cities listed a claim for me had a small population this could be legit.
They have money from state governments, insurance companies, banks, utility commissions and etc. They also do not charge for this service.
DH decided to put in his application first,(it was for funds from a utility commission), and was informed that he must contact the state website directly.
We are both former military, so I will use this excuse for our lousy bookkeeping. Anyway, I hope someone else here can find some missing money due to them!
Interesting Web Site
I will be checking it out althought I can't imagine anyone leavig me anything, keep your fingers crossed for me.
That must mean that the new computer is up and running. Glad to hear that. I checked this out several years back and the state agency (Alabama) requires that any money that is owed to anyone such as refund on a utility deposit or refund on an insurance refund is given to the state to hold. I can't remember if it is for a number of years and then it belongs to the state or is given back to the company. I did find several of my relatives that had funds that was being held. One was a car insurance refund and one was a last pay check that a teen ager didn't go back and pick up after being fired from a grocery store. The others was refunds on deposits on utilities that somehow never got refunded. Probable didn't realize that they paid a deposit.
You did have to contact the state to get the money. There was a form that could be printed out from the computer that could be sent in.
