Question for Darius

Greenlawn, NY(Zone 6B)

His Darius,
My friend is so excited about all the good info you have provided---we will definitely be going to The Herb of Grace for tea. What kind of weather can we expect in the Great Smokies at that time? I have never been there at any time of year (ditto for my friend) so wondered what to expect.
(I will be there March 22-24).
Thanks for any "weather predictions"!

SandyR... Our weather has been so unpredictable this year... nearly 70's during the day in February when it should have been snowing, and now today a high of 41 and a low tonight of 18. Go figure. Our last frost date is typically supposed to be mid-May but I think this year might be sooner. We usually have decent weather by mid-March to early April although I have seen it snow here in early April but neither stick nor stay... and I always try to rush putting out basil only to either have an unexpected (by me!) late freeze, or have to find room inside again. I never plan on putting my house plants outside before mid-May and some like the ficus benjaminus not until early June when I know the lows will not fall below 50.

I'd plan on jackets definitely at night, and days will vary, mostly depending on wind as well as sunshine or rain. You will be coming just when things start to bud so the countryside should be starting to look spectacular! Right now only the daffs, snowdrops and crocus are blooming.

You will be comfortable at Herb of Grace even if it is cool during the day, and she makes scrumptious pastries for Tea. Tell her I sent you... won't give you a discount but she'll appreciate it!

By the way, we are not quite in the Great Smokies, just in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Smokies are nearby, about an hour's drive to Maggie Valley and Cherokee (where the new Harrah's casino is, on the Cherokee Reservation). Mt. Mitchell, the highest point east of the Rockies, is north along the Blue Ridge Parkway about 45-60 minutes from here, but most of the Blue Ridge isn't as high as the Smokies.
