into the greenhouse. Turned the heat on today and brought most of the Brugs out.Still have four big Brugs inside. Now next week I will spend repotting the ones that need bigger pots.I found four that have Y'd and I can see tiny buds on two of them.Still have all my seedlings in the house under grow lights but they may go out next week too.I've finally got SOME of my sunporch back.LOL
I kicked the Brugs out....
Snow - they look great! I see you have your chair there to sit in the sun and admire them them. Looks cozy ;-) Which ones have Y'd for you?
Nice collection of brugs, and lucky you - you have a great looking greenhouse.
Congrats on the move! Looks like you'll be ready to set some seed here shortly.
It looks so big and roomy and nice!!!Hope mine looks that good ,if I ever get it put up.....
I looked closer, radio, heater ,lamp ,fan, where the cable TV??
Poppy, I've got Insignis Pink and Isabella with small buds and Solid Gold and the Sunray are Y'd. Can't wait till they're ready to pollinate. Hoping the dbl white will start Y'ing. No cable CC but we did enjoy sitting through two snowstorms last year in it.It felt like our own tropical paradise in the middle of all the snow. We'll get a chance to do it again this weekend as there's more snow coming.
Thanks Pebble, My collection is due to the generousity of some very nice friends. :)
Another organized greenhouse - looks good. I can't take the pressure, have to do something about my mess. After the next posting of an immaculate greenhouse. Maybe ~
Liz, In another two months it won't be very organized. DH had to move a 8 ft table out today to make room for the Brugs. Last year was my first year with a GH and I went wild planting seeds. I had the tables covered with plants and under the tables were full too.Almost killed DH as he had to plant them all outside. Won't plant quite so many this year.
You say that now! LOL
That looks nice and comfortable. I miss the bed?
Very nice SH, i know you are excited.
Snow, nice greenhouse. A question : What's " Y'd ", you all seems to know , but........
cristina
After seeing this I will have to stop calling mine a greenhouse and call it a greenshack.
Me to JT. Snow's looks great. Your plants look so healthy too. Still too cold here for the greenhouse. Hope you have good luck with the weather, Snow. Can't wait to see some of your finished products.
S.
Monika, I feel I should put my bed out there tonight just to make sure they're all right their first night all alone.LOL Arlene, I'm hoping that versi Alba of yours will flower. It has the prettiest leaves and small leaves grow up the whole stalk.
Brugie, Keep your fingers crossed. Even with the temperature set at 70 it is still not as warm as it was on the sunporch with the woodstove near by. I'm hoping the difference doesn't cause them to drop their buds.
JT,mine only looks neat cause it doesn't have any plants in it yet. Just wait and you'll soon see a disorganized greenhouse.
SH, versi alba is courtesy of brugman...
Alba versicolor is my favorite white versicolor. Nice fragrance and the most productive seed setter I have had from a versicolor.
Great!!! I love that plant. Now to get it to bud so it can set some seeds. I'll have to talk to it real nice. I already have music on in the GH for them. Hope they like country & western. LOL
Snowhermit,
Oh your greenhouse is wonderful and just look at the size of your healthy plants. Were these ones started from cuttings? Which varieties do you have in there?
Keep up the great work!!
Joydie
cristina, a brug will only bloom after the main truck makes a Y and then branches out. some do it while still small, some don't Y until after they are 5' or more.
Today the first Brugmansia, a unsual one I must admit, went into the greenhouse. It was me. I took a nap. The sun was shining and it was so nice and warm. But I had to share the place of comfort with mice. Since our cat died in last November, they have high life in the greenhouse. I will place mouse traps tonight. Its now 16.03hr and its getting cold again!!!
Monika, I'm afraid I couldn't take a nap knowing the mice were running around in there. I keep mouse and rat poison in my greenhouse, back away from where our dog could get to it. Have found one dead mouse and that is it. I think they eat the bait and go away to die. Nasty little creatures. It does make the bones feel good to soak up the sun out there, doesn't it? We have too much snow right now to get to the greenhouse, so I'll just have to dream.
LOL Monika. I sat out in mine last night with the wind blowing and it was snowing. It felt wonderful. Today it is windy but 50 degrees out so I am heading out there to do some potting.
Mice have never bothered me. But it was a lot of fun, when Mom and my sister visited and Moritz (the cat) came home with a catch, already announcing it from far away. My sister was ready to jump upon the table and Mom was almost to make it out of her wheelchair. Poor Moritz, he was so proud to show his catch.
I love mice,If our mouse traps just barely clips the mouse, they are trapped. Not dead.I put them in a cage and keep them as pets.Chuck has a fit ,but I love rodents!Spiders are one thing that I can't deal with!!!
I keep spiders in the greenhouse and they eats many pests.
Last year there was a big, fat cross spider with beautiful markings. Hope its still in the house.
Mice are big pests. Some of them are about as big as a young rat. They do much damage to young trees. Moritz brought some home.
Oh ,I agree ,spiders are good....as long as they are not in my bedroom!!!We live on the lake and have tons of BIG,FAT HAIRY,SCAREY,AGRESSIVE, WATER SPIDERS.I swear they are not after the bugs, they're after ME!!!!
when my boy was about 3 or 4 he came running out of the bathroom crying "there's an animal in the bathroom", and really crying. was a large, almost as big as my hand wolf spider.
these are tarantulas in training!!LOL
We had one of them in our living room during winter and did not want to take her out in the cold. We named her Berta.
She showed up every night, walking across the ceiling. We, DH, myself and the cats looked fascinated up there. It was more interesting as TV. They dont web a net. These spiders are excellent hunters. On a warm spring day, DH caught and brought her into the greenhouse.
I have a terrible fear of spiders. I always have from the time I was a child. I'd rather pick up a rattlesnake. LOL
ME TOO!
Tonight I placed the mouse traps, four of them. Forgot all about the racoons out there. Hope they will not get the smell of the bacon.
I just checked the time, Its 18.44hr. So I am six hours ahead of eastern time.
I have a terrible fear of spiders also and I really don't know why. I know they definitely serve some good purpose but if they are in my house I do not catch them and put them out . . . it's the flyswatter. I wish I were like Monika and they did not bother me at all. It is awful having such a fear.
Monika, Try peanut butter in your mouse traps. They love it.
Thanks SH, I will try it. Does it has any effect on racoons? I am afraid they try to get into the GH and do a lot of damage.
I don't know if raccoons like peanut butter or not but I do know they like meat. I had a raccoon kill all my Banty chickens a few years ago. They can be very destructive.
