You open the gate, turn around..... which way do you want to go Liz
You open the gate and turn around............
Wow, stunning, speachless...any other words....
Monika, are these grown in the ground? This is stunning beyond words.
They are grown in the grounds. I dig them out in the fall.
I want to go along the path toward the brugmansias ~ I'm totally in awe!
If I was standing in that path I'm afraid I would'nt know which way to go with so much beauty around me.I'd probably be spinning in circles. LOL
There are two paths. You can walk around in a circle.
wow Monika, what a great place
OK - then I want to go left and keep going around and around again and again. Just magnificent! Will you adopt me? I can water and I don't eat much. I can sleep under one of the brugs ~
I will adopt you - but dont know if you will like it. In normal summers it does not rain very much and sometimes I need 500 - 600l of water a day. It goes by bucket - the water directly from the well is too cold. My Brugmansias are spoiled !!!
Monika, I'll come water your brugmansias for you.....
Maybe they are spoiled - they certainly look like they own the place. Very contented looking brugs
We could take turns staying a week with her and carrying the water. It's beautiful Monika, I meant to have gardens like that.
I will do my darnest to come close this year. Will they grow this big in one year?
My son is talking of re enlisting in the army next year,he wants to be stationed in Germany. If he does ,guess I'll have to go visit him....and take a detour to find Monikas,IN THE SUMMER,so I can stroll thru the brug forest...(sorry Monika,I'm inviting myself)
Having a Brugmansia Alley was the dream of my life. These brugs know that they are the kings in this garden. But the beauty depends much on the weather up here. In 2000 we had the coldest summer I remember with temperatures in July down at +1°. They all had buds and opened when we had in August a warm period of two weeks. But the flowers were lacking size, coloration and did not last too long.
It takes two years to get a decent tree out of cuttings. If you have a bush with long sprouts, root these with the method of air layering.
how close together are these planted? making my garden plans now
Brugcrazy's computer is down - she's going to kill herself for missing this.
I wondered where she was!!
2.50m is the space between the trees. A bush fills it in.
Each row is so placed that a Tree faces a bush on the opposite site.. Cant remember the english word.
Place your questions, I will answer tomorrow. Its already way past midnight. Good night to all of you!
Monika, I've got some nice big pots of brugs so it's okay to just pop them into the ground and dig them in the fall? It won't hurt them? DH is going to love this, our green house is 3 miles from the house!! I may just layer some of the big limbs and plant them, much easier to haul to the garden!!
Guess I will change the experiments from teeny-tiny to HUGE. I had seen photos like these from I guess your website, it was all in German and I was going back and forth to the translating program to see if they were real!!
monika, do you mean staggered? right side: tree, bush, tree, bush left side: bush, tree, bush tree?
I've been drawing like a mad woman here!
Me too tiG! DH doesn't have a clue that I'm now planning on putting him to work!
Monika, it looks like a beautiful painting. I know you have worked very hard to achieve and maintain this but the rewards must be enormous. It is like a wonderful dream.
What part of Germany do you live in? My family's roots go back to northern Germany (Oldenburg) where only a few remain there. There is also a town by the name of Dinklage (my family name) which is about 200 miles from Darmstadt and there is also a Burg Dinklage which was our ancesral home many years ago. Just was curious as to which part of Germany that you lived in.
I do not believe I've ever seen anything quite like this. It is just breath taking. Makes me want to set fire to my yard. One day,though.......... Thank you Monika for sharing this with us. WOW
I woke up thinking about this thread this morning. Can you imagine what this looks like at night with lights on it?
lol Liz, I think a lot of us have been thinking about it. and yes, it must be stunning at night with lights on it. those rope lights??? wow!
Have been thinking about this constantly and re-arranging all my plants mentally to accomodate brugs along my walkway and driveway.
Monika has stirred up our creative juices.
Well that's it!! I'm redesigning my front garden. I'll get someone to dig those holes for me. I'm taking Brugman's advice and putting my pathetic little seedlings into HUGE pots instead of moving them up slowly.
...back to the landscape software...
Joydie
I have several lights in the garden and it looks beautiful when they are on.
Just come an visit me, CC.
I live in the middle part of Germany, 100km northeast of Frankfurt/Main. Oldenburg is about 450km away. I know the city, I had a friend living in Oldenburg. Darmstadt os not to far away. I am quite often close by, a Bruh fancier lives there.
Do you want me load up several pictures of these pots and single trees to see them better?
Yes,please!!!
Thank you so much for posting. This is absolutely stunning.
More please!
I have never seen anything so breathtaking. Absolutely gorgeous.
The magnitude of this is just sinking in. Monika? You have 90 of these big trees??
About 20 -25 Trees, the rest are bushes.
Again, this is identical to my garden! Monika, are you sure you haven't been to San Leandro, California peeking over my fence and copying my garden design???
Kell,
Your going to have to post some pictures for us. Monika's yard is simply the most stunning I have ever seen.
Well to be honest, mine is probably much better! LOL
I see, your such a kidder. Good sense of humor though Kell. You really had me going for a few seconds.
