Plumeria Propagation

Toronto, ON(Zone 4a)

A friend brought be a cutting of plumeria from Bermuda and I'm anxious to see if I can get it to sprout. Any suggestions for increasing my chances of success would be greatly appreciated.

spring_fever, I also just received 2 cuttings of plumeria. The Plumeria Place has lots of info and instructions for rooting. Hopefully, someone will come along with some tips.
They sure have beautiful flowers and I like the fact that they can go dorment along with the Brugs in the winter.

You are welcome...I was checking my bookmarks and found some more info. on Plumerias. I think I'll wait for warmer weather before starting mine.

I started mine in Dec and Jan, a few have new growth on them now. Will post pic(s) later.

Tim, any tips on starting? Did you really have to stabilize them in the pots because of their fragile roots? I don't want to goof up! Looking forward to seeing your pics.

Stablize?? Oops! I just stick the cutting in the center of a pot using very light soil (1/3 peat, 1/3 perlite, 1/3 seed starter mix). Not only did I NOT stablized the cutting, I moved the pot around frequently.

The roots are rather fragile, but then again aren't most fresh tender roots fragile?

Growth hormone really gives an edge
to anything you plant from cuttings.
I use it on everything and have not
ever had a plant not root. I also
stabalize with chop sticks at first,
then advance in the stake size as the
plant grows, never had a crooked tree
since I started doing it, and you
should have seen my crooked willow
before I learned the staking. If you
haven't done so already Tim do it
as soon as possable and be CAREFUL
of the roots. Do so gently and very
touch & feel as you go when you stake.
