Hello, fellow Poppy lovers! I'll be glad to save seeds, should I be successful with the grapes. I have lots of mixed somniferum seeds if any of you would like to try broadcasting them. On another thread, PoppySue explained that these poppies cross pollinate, so there is no telling if they'll come back true to their original plant. Whether or not they do, they are surely beautiful. I think they grow particularly large and lush here because of the mild temps and the moisture, but they are less likely to self-sow, and our climate doesn't allow me enough time to start them outdoors in the spring.
MaVieRose: you're welcome to any seeds I can offer..send me an address by email and I'll send some your way...your message about visiting the poppy reserve made me think of my husband's idea to locate me in a large store. He said my head doesn't stick up above the aisles, so he's going to attach a cane pole with one of those orange flags on it so he knows where I am! I guess you'd have to have another color for your flag among all those poppies!
JoanJ: Please don't get discouraged about gardening in your neck of the woods. I'll bet you can grow tomatoes, and I'm close to tears if I get a few cherry tomatoes in my greenhouse...I think they'd put it in the newspaper! I still haven't heard from Seedhunt, so maybe there's hope yet. Two places advertised them but didn't have them, so I'm slowly losing hope.
well, Its been FUN trying to find them and I found some really cool sites from everyone that has helped! :) So, there are some plus things here! And Poppy Sue turned us on to those Igor ones too. So, Its been a learning thing
