Versicolor pink In San Diego

This tree (15 ft tall) at a friends house has to be seen to believe,its a great sight in bloom.

What one is this? Out of this world.

I'd be happy with 1/2 that many blooms on a 5 foot plant!!!1/4 even!!It must be awesome to see that in person!

I had one large bloom like that on my versicolor peach around april hope it does it again this april last years pic was too fuzzy to see it good.

Glory it is at 211 Laurel st...west of Balboa park about 4 blocks on SW corner. :-)

Maybe you had better warn these folks in San Diego that this crazy woman from Mississippi will be crawling around their neighborhood looking for Brug Trees. I have already sent the directions to my daughter for the Brug on Lincoln, now I'll add this one to the list.

Do you think they would mind if someone took some Butterfly pollen and say...stroked each and every pistal on that tree with just a dab or two of pollen...This could be a midnight operation...covert so to speak...a few months later we could sneak back to gather the seedpods....at night again of course....

Who's being funny? Do you realize how many seed pods we could get on a tree that big? If we could just cross a few flushes, say first one with Butterfly, second flush with Rosabelle, third flush with Rothkirch....I think we might have enough seeds from just those flushes to come up with something worthwhile. If nothing else we could have fun planting them all. Any idea how many seeds that hybrid averages per pod? I must admit I have stopped counting seeds in many of my hybrids, but I have found as few as 28 and over 500 seeds in some others....

Eric, I'll meet you down there and lend a helping hand, but if we get caught, how on earth to explain the circumstanstes??? I could just imagine trying to justify it to my children, not to mention my husband.

I'll spread the sheet on the ground so you can just drop the pods on it,won't loose a single seed....You can just pinch the pods,literally....Maybe thats Callas job...LOL

I'll help, I'll even bring the New Skin in case they aren't ripe. I've also been experimenting with how big the pods have to be before you can cut the branch off the main plant and root it and the pods will still develop. So far, the best luck has been with pods that are at least 3 months old, or at least a large size.(the pods seem to reach a terminal size, but the seeds continue to develope inside)

Ok, y'all I'm to old to be creeping around peoples houses collecting seed pods...now I may have done just that about 20 years ago. LOL

Fellow guerilla gardeners! I used to be a painter, so have all sorts of ladders. Even got BIG dropcloths to catch all those seedpods and extension poles to knock 'em down with...

People ..people..this tree forms no seeds unless someone crawls up and pollinates it.....The only trees I see seeds on in San Diego is `Charles Grimaldi' and all those seeds were sterile for some reason......

OK,so we gotta go twice,once with all the doner pollen,and then back again for the harvest!Think the owners will notice???
