L'Amour did not get much attention in Germany in the beginning. Mrs. Neu claimed her as being red colored. Mme Blin named her when she saw her in flower at Mrs. Neu home.
Somebody named Mrs. Neu a lier. The color is a very dark pink and turns reddish when climate conditions are perfect; warm, high air humidity.
Mrs. Neu lived in the warm vine growing regions. I made this picture 1996 at my place and it was on the cover of my first book edition for acknowledgment of Mrs. Neu.
Picture of L'Amour, another hybrid by the late Mrs. Neu
Monika,
I have been admiring all of the photos, but colorwise this one beats them all.
And I enjoy the commentary on the history of the brugs that you are posting.
The flower comes out more of the calyx. When I planted L'Amour in a larger pot, I grabbed the only one without holes on the bottom. A took me a while to figure out what could be wrong with the plant but by then, many of the roots had rotted away.
Really are glad to have you here, Monika.
Love these pictures, helps us northerners' get through winter, waiting for blooming time in mid summer.
Thanks so much for sharing.
That one is about the prettiest brug I have seen yet. I love the orangish tint in it.
Is it as fragrant as it is pretty?

Just beautiful. Much better than most pictures I have seen of it.
I should have said better than ALL pictures I have seen of it. I had to come back and look again. Monika, would you mind if I used this picture on my desktop?

Slobber, drool, I want one!!!!! :-)
hehehe, it's funny to see the ones we look up to drool!!!
TiG, it is good to see that isn't it?
So Monika, this one has even more intense colour where it's warmer and more humid? When you posted your pictures on Yahoo a few months ago this is the one that grabbed my attention first. They're all beautiful but I loved this one.
Monika, "L`Amour" is one of the most beautiful. Both color and the clearly visible aurea shape with the long tendrils. I remember seeing it on the front cover of your books first edition.
btw. the species on the front cover of your books new edition is it sanguinea or vulcanicola? - and which name has it? I like the yellow with orangy glow in it :)
that is a very gorgeous flower and also want to say that phography is wounderful as well.
Pete
I must confess I have wanted that hybrid after seeing that very same picture on the web a year or so ago. Trully an amazing hybrid.
Another picture. The flower got stuck in the calyx, but again, note the long tendrils
And you're giving everyone on daves a LAmour for Christmas Monika???
No?? Not even in our Christmas stockings?? But we've been such good kids all year ~~

Sing along with me Kell ~~ I'm dreaming of a PINK Christmas!! LOL
Well, I want RED, RED, RED !!!! As close as I can get to red without it being a sang. Love them too, just can't grow em.
L'Amour would do incrediblely great here in south Mississippi with the heat and humidity. one of these days I will get my hands on one LOL. Absolutely beautiful.
Yes Miss Lizzy............ lets sing!!!
I'm dreaming of a pink Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the brugtops glisten and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow
And I'm dreaming of a pink Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be pink
And have a merry Christmas
And have a merry Christmas, too
I'm dreaming of a pink Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases
All your Christmases
All your Christmases be pink
And have a merry Christmas
Well done Kell !! That's the Christmas spirit !!
Again bumping - just because this particular one is the one I dreamt about all last spring.
I'm still dreaming
Me too ~Sigh
