This is an Aurea hybrid I call.. Aurea X `Butterscotch'..it has large open blooms that are butterscotch colored and it blooms well even in the heat and humidity of the summers in Iowa.
Some of my older brug crosses
Oh my, that is pretty. Can we talk? :-)
Eclipse, could I interest you in something of mine??? That is beautiful.
thanks for posting, hope you have 1000 more pics to post.
Arlene, isn't it good to have some new "blood" in the group? I just love seeing all these new people posting.
Kyle, Another lovely flower and I like that it has tolerance to heat and humidity - here in Texas we have a lot of heat and humidity. I did not realize that in Iowa your summers were like that.
I do believe that's the prettiest yellow I've seen. By the way, Eclipse, that's a nice picture of you in the lilypad pond too.
catlady, where is the lily pond photo?
Check out Eclipse's page. His picture is there. Cool pond too.
Thanks Brugie. For some reason I thought he would be really "old".(sorry)I guess because he's done so much. That is one huge waterlily.
Me too, Susie, for all the brugs named after him, I thought he had to be old also, to have accomplished that much. He must have started when he was eight???

That one is a keeper, Kyle. Thanks for sharing.

Kyle, it's gorgeous!!!
A beautiful flower.
WOW
Eclispe - That is a gorgeous bloom. I'm curious if you did your hybridizing in Iowa. How did you manage to grow out so many seedlings in zone 5?
opppsss, wiping the drool off the monitor....
Kyle,
I also have some of those cute pants like the ones you are wearing in that picture of you in the pond.....I look like the biggest green frog you have ever seen ever. LOL
Poppysue....Our summers are about 5 months long here and its easy to raise brug seedlings just about anywhere.I store them in the basement in the winter. They sleep till spring.
Kyle, how do you get the seed pods to mature? Do you bring the whole tree in to finish them off or what? The only pod I had wasn't mature when it was time to bring the brugs inside. I don't have enough room and have to cut mine back at that time.
Brugie, when the plants are in flower I pollinate only the flowers that are low enough to clear the ceiling indoors when they have to come inside.I still top some as they can get 14 feet tall in one summer.I cut back to 7 feet to bring in.
Eclipse - you call it aurea x butterscotch. Have you released it under another name? It's lovely~
That is very nice...can we see a side profile of that beauty?
Brugie...Remember LSU? I'd have to say she looked quite similar. Do you still have her.
Ruby enlighten me...LSU..? I still need help with the abbrev. in here till I get the hang of them.
Liz,
I haven't released this on yet.I have sevearl I have never released. Guess I got burn't releasing the others so just gave up retailing them.
You got burned? How is it supposed to work? Are you supposed to get a royalty on each plant sold? Such a shame~
Eclipse, that is a gorgeous flower. I'm sorry you got burned. It's a pity!
Eclipse,
Sorry to hear about you getting burned, although it is not surprising to me. There are people that do not have any ethics - I do not understand it and I never will. I have only been here at Dave's about a month and I must tell you that I have met a number of giving and sharing people and to them I was a stranger. People like that make me feel so good and I could never do anything that would disappoint them and I will be overjoyed the day that I can share back with me.
You are among the best.
I've been gone all day today, so just got in on this thread. I still have the one you gave me called LSU, but it doesn't look anything like this one of Kyles. Mine has since been identified as Versicolor Orange. This one looks gold, and mine definitely looks deep peachy/orange. There are probably still pictures of a lot of brugs grown by a lot of us under "Extras".

The Butterscoth hybrid I posted is an aurea not a versicolor..the flowers angle out on aureas ans suaveolens..and hang straight down on versicolors...one way to help distinguish them from a distance. :-)
Wow thats interesting thanks
Kyle,
Will you have any cuttings of this one to trade this year? I'd love to get a start of it.
Shirley
me too! am going to have to search for a wonderful hibiscus or alocasia you don't have!
I haven't released several of my hybrids yet..still evaluating them... :-)
I really like this one. It looks, like it has some suaveolens genes. Do you have pictures, showing it from the side?
This one is absolutely wonderful...my gosh what a warm color. I have a question, what percentage does the hybridizer get for royalities? I've often wondered.
Kyle, this one must be released...Butterscotch-what a lovely name.
Joydie
joydie..I get nothing from my hybrids..was promised other plants to compensate me..but alas..most give me nothing...thats why I am very hardpressed to release more for the time being.
