Annabele
Got your curly willow package yesterday! Thank you so much!
They are in water, should I keep them in the sunny window while I am trying to root them, or out of the sun. The weeping willows I did last year, I just stuck in a pail outside, and they did the rest. But they were leafed out branches.

Also, should I use any rooting hormone in the water??

Thanks...I REALLY want these to grow, so any advice would be great!!

Thanks again

Hi Annabele

My starts are sending out some leaves slow on the roots still, but keeping my fingers crossed.

I did start some sycamore the same day and they sprouted today, I'm so excited.

I soaked mine in water for a few days, and then put them in a pot. They have leaves growing all over them.

My curly willow starts were beautiful, lots and lots of leaves and new growth and roots. I have them potted up, and they are struggling now, maybe I potted them too soon, they started to lose leaves. I am now keeping them more moist, almost soggy, and have encased the whole works in large clear garbage bags to bring up humidity. Any suggestions, is this just a period of adjustment?? I have 3 and have even wondered if I should put one back in water just in case, but I can't see how water can be different from soggy and moist??? Any suggestions are welcome. Should I possibly use a litle miracle grow in my water? L

Legit, you may have put them in the pot to soon. The more roots the better they respond when planted. You can unpot them and put them back in water. A large mass of roots is all the better. Yes a little fertilizer is ok, but really weak. Usually when they do as you discribe the roots wern't big enough, in fact they can live in water just fine, so don't be in a hurry to get them planted. Just plenty or TLC and yoou'll have great trees.

My curly willow is doing very nicely in two separate pots. Leaves and stem are all curly - so unique. Thank you very much.
