LOl Tig, I call these things "Ugly Agnes". I have them jumping up all over if you want some .. We "tried" to remove a large hedge of 14 of them about 3 years ago and babies keep coming up from the roots that were left in the ground. It's a real job to dig them out, every year I seem to have a new crop. If you want some - you are welcome to them, it really is a man's job tho to dig them, even the babies. If you need any cuttings I will gladly share them - next step,"Round-up". I have heard they are easy to root, but certainly never needed to. If you already have some bushes - just do the old "bury the low limb " trick -I'm sure this would work.

PJ, my mom says they smell like heaven, but ours doesn't bloom and you're right, it's ugly! thanks!

Oh, I am so happy to see other people who think that is an ugly shrub! I once had a supervisor who loved them, thought they were gorgeous. She wasn't a gardener, though. They do smell heavenly, and if you can plant them out on a large property and then don't trim them to look like a box but let the branches arch, they are fine. So many builders planted them in every front yard here and right near the house. So wrong.

Hi tiG,
I have one that I will gladly cut back to send you some cuttings if you want them.

thanks busy, but this one is enough!! Mom next door has several! I guess I don't need to worry about propagating them, doesn't sound like there's a big desire for them!!! LOL, except my mom, who thinks they are the best thing since sliced bread.

Oh, I thought you just wanted some to have - I wasn't looking forward to digging them up - they are tough, the roots go so deep and wide.

you are such a sweetheart!! You'd even think about digging something awful? Not too many like you girl! love ya

I really am going to spray them, my neighbor came and dug some of them last fall, but he gave up. There are more little ones now tho - just for the taking. I have tried for 3 years to get rid of them. My dh rented a backhoe to get the original ones out, but the roots he left are sprouting - ugh.
